Thoughts on Killing the Opposite Factions in World PVP.

My Thoughts (horde): I was introduced to this game about a year ago by a friend. While lvling I came across a few alliance players but never engaged combat and neither did they. My friend on the other hand (a trashtalker and such, you know the type) killed all alliance on sight reguardless of their lvl saying that we should kill them because thats what we hordies do. I didn't take his advice but when I hit BC and WOTLK i noticed i was getting ganked quite frequently by alliance and it started to annoy me. Once i was lvling my second toon to 80 I would usually keep my main close by in flying range in case i got ganked and would go by the moto "I wont attack you but if you attack me im gona kill you" (By the way i suck at PVP so in a 1 on 1 gank I usually always lose).

This worked well till 1 day i was happily strolling in hellfire on my DK when i was ganked by 2 80's who then proceeded to camp me for a good hour. I got on my main but they killed that too, with ease.
After that I pretty much cracked and started killing alliance on sight reguardless of lvl, and since then It has been like that.

The other day I was flying in hellfire questing for C.E. rep when i saw 3 lvl 60-65s alliance doing a group quest. I dismounted and 1 shotted 2 of them and the other mounted and flew away on his 150%. I then proceeded to track him down on my 310% and kill him. Once I killed him I felt pretty bad. And I realised i was pretty much no better than those dickheads who ganked me back in hellfire on my DK. I realise that there will always be dickheads on either faction but I dont plan on being one. I know "This is World PVP" but im pretty sure it's designed to allow fun pvp between similar lvls.

From now on every time I get ganked on my alts by an 80, im going to put a strike on my notepad, and the next low lvl alliance I see on my 80 im gona kill. I know that technically thats not really fair but meh, Its fair enough and it will make me feel much better.

You felt bad because you killed his in game char?.. Just wow. I kill all allies on sight because we are in war with the alliance, and because I rolled a pvp server to kill allies and pvp, not hitting some non challenging AI.

Dude, you are a lot like me in a way, but you have strayed down the path of misplaced aggression. There is a mod called "vanaskos" which automatically keeps a list and notifies you when that character is nearby, so you can stalk them and gank them to no end.

If you have a problem with people being dicks in the game, don't be one yourself.

I never attack anyone unless they have attacked me at any time in the past, then they are my permanent kill-on-sight enemy. That's the way I play and I find the justified vengeance to be an enjoyable experience.

Sometimes, when i feel like it, i kill someone however, the other way around happens too much, me getting killed on sight.
There is only 1 criteria, when someone is doing an escort quest, i do not touch him, i know how freaking annoying that can
be since i had to do an escort quest like, almost to the end, like 3 times in Un'Goro, that just sucks.

This has got to be the most annoying topic, if you're going to cry and complain about ganking/being ganked. DO NOT ROLL ON A PVP SERVER. It's as simple as that. If all of your mains are already on a PvP server then don't complain and live with your choice when you first started playing the game.

The mechanic is working precisely as intended on PvP servers - there's no reason to infer that Blizz wants combat to be only or primarily among equal leveled toons on those servers. While outright griefing (camping someone for hours and/or making it a personal attack) is not allowed, killing the same guy multiple times is fine.

As for me? I was basically like you, and thought being magnanimous was the way to go. Then I got sick and tired of pricks killing me for no apparent reason the moment I was sufficiently occupied. Over time, I've grown to have a policy to start fights because I know the guy I'm jumping has done the same to others and might do it to me given the opportunity. Also, as I've gotten better at the game, it's gotten to the point where there's almost no risk involved in any one on one fight. Hell, the other day I wiped a full group with an 80 healer multiple times on Amphitheatre on my main (PvE geared lock) just because I think screwing with the other faction is funny.

People that think it's "mean" or "unfair" should reroll carebear.

Well said. Although I rolled in a PVP server for some good fun world PVP. i prefer not to play with hate or anger. It just ruins the game

Dude, you have the same story most people have.

I used to be nice ... but then 90% of the time I would see an ally grinding or questing i'd pop up close to him while he was fighting 2-3 mobs do a /wave to let him know: "i'm not going to kill you". And then, I'd find myself getting attacked while having 2-3 mobs on me by that same person i've let live.

Nowadays, it's easy. He's lower lvl than me? kill him ; He's got several mobs on him? kill him ; He's doing a /wave to me? kill him ; etc.

I rerolled Ally to Horde, so I don't have near the faction loyalty ties there, but [guys not on my faction] started it works well enough for me ;-p

lets see your light of dawn achiev since its "non challenging AI"

back on subject though , you are supposed to kill enemies if you roll on a pvp server , that said while its not "polite" in game to kill a lvl 30 lvling in SVT it still is a part of the game , if you dont enjoy world pvp then roll on a normal server

Red is dead, and I expect every enemy to attack me as well. That´s what a PvP Server is for.

But: I don´t attack lowbies (Where´s the fun in that? I want a fight, not a single button press), I don´t camp corpses (got better things to do than waiting hours at one spot) and sometimes I´ll even won´t kill enemies during certain quests (escort quests, elite fights) if I feel like it. Unless they did it first of course.

That's a good first step. Next step is to stop bothering with that notepad nonsense. Just kill anyone with a red name that you see, expect them to do the same (if they don't, that's their loss), and remember it's all in good fun!

I almost feel offended when I'm on a lowbie char and come accross a high level from the opposite faction who doesn't kill me.
