    The Future of Gilneas?

The land of Gilneas is currently very very deserted with only a few animals and nothing more.. this really doesnt feel right and i think Blizzard is planning to do something with the zone in a patch or something. I mean for example the entire of Gilneas City is just standing there intact completly deserted. Now that the battleground is taking place on the shore and not in the city itself they surely must have some plans.

What do you think? Whats the future of the Gilneans home?

What i hope and want that it would be like an epic event (similar to Operation Gnomeregan/Zalazane's Fall) that the Worgen take back whats theirs in a future patch.

What about the battles that happen there while leveling a forsaken. You phased bro?
"We are The Forsaken, we will slaughter anyone who stands in our way."

If im not mistaken, that area is the start-up zone for the worgens....

It's sort of like the death knight start zone, it's going to be deserted even though it wouldn't be if it was the real world.

I'm going to agree with this guy/girl. While I admit, Gilneas would be great if it received some TLC, but I'm going with a realistic approach and gonna say it's pretty much a crater in the ground at this point.

Its weird how its percived as an empty zone ...
When actually like many zones it has its uses but gilneas has been so pick up on to please everyone but no one seems to notice.

Actually blizzard has pleased the whole demographic in wow!!!

Alliance get a leveling zone for worgens 1-12!
Horde get a leveling series of quests there at level 15-20!
The whole game gets a BG there!

That is three times that zone is used, im not sure but it seems pretty much used up very well! and face that the city is supposed to b a ghost town because the worgen have finally spread into the world again , although durring silverpine questing gilneas is packed with crazzed worgen and SI-7 agents.

So compared to other zones like....stonetallon which has some epic quest lines gilneas gets featured 3 times in the game for the players experince but you dont ask for more from stonetallon?

tamed an awesome mastiff in that area. It also looks uber awesome even while empty, the fact its empty perhaps even adds more of the gloomy atmosphere

    This ^

I went in and got a Blue Fox and Mastiff on my new undead hunter whilst levelling their, and it kind of adds to the story.

The undead warmachine leaves nothing but death in its path.

That said, i think in a future patch we may see it become a undead city =p

Gilneas is the Worgen homeland center of major conflict between the Horde and Alliance in the Eastern Kingdoms. Having it just sit there for the rest of the expansion would be a complete waste of an opportunity of excellent quests and story development. Plus, avoiding it would make little sense.

Because for all intents and purpose it is an empty zone unless you're doing Horde quests or in the phased version for starting Worgen. I'd rather not have to level a worgen all over again just to see some life other than dogs, sheep and foxes in the zone :-p

The Ruins of Gilneas have no purpose at all once you've finished the phased quests. A barren and almost lifeless area comes across as unfinished and beyond scenery porn isn't very intersting to look at. I doubt that every single non-animal form of life in Gilneas just vacated after the Fosaken invasion ended, especially since in the Forsaken questline they make such a big deal of the fact that they need to conquer the Gilneas peninsula as a vital strategic point, and then after their war of attrition is over they don't even station guards or anything in the zone!

I really hope they gradually show progress happening over the course of Cata, it'd be a shame if Gilneas was another body on the pile of abandoned content :-p

well they did kidnap his daughter

i dunno why u think syl is a bad general. against any other enemy should would have done fine, however worgens are already cursed they cant be cursed by plauge. so if a worgen dies u cant rez them and ur best weapons cannot hurt them. also 1 worgen > several undead in combat

    syl did fine

worgens just did better till they kidnapped cowleys daughter.

    Few problems here:
    1. The Battle for Gilneas does not take place in the actual zone of Gilneas anymore than Warsong Gulch takes place in Ashenvale.
    2. Zones like Stonetalon are questing zones for both factions, so how is it that when Gilneas gets used for both factions you consider it to be featured twice, but Stonetalon only once?

Ashenvale is a quest zone for both factions and the site of a BG, but when I finish questing there and return it isn't completely devoid NPCs. So why is this not also true of Gilneas? It's supposed to be a hotly contested territory between the Horde and Alliance, but there are no NPCs from either faction there? It looks terribly awkward.

The least Blizzard could do is stick a bunch of Alliance and Horde NPCs in the zone to make it feel populated. Have some of them fighting in various areas.

As for the argument that the Scarlet Ruins below Ebon Hold are empty: That makes sense. The Scourge had no need to further occupy the area, and the Scarlets were slaughtered to the last man.

Yeah, I'd really, really hate to see it become another Crystalsong Forest. There's too much excellent scenery in Gilneas for that to happen.

Just because Crowley gave up doesn't mean all the worgen did. Run through shadow fang keep alliance version, a little is explained there. The feral worgen under that Alpha worgen (sorry cant remember his name) still fights on. Also they have reinforcements from stormwind. An entire naval fleet in fact. Lore wise, currently Gilneas is in control of the alliance
