    Attack on Titan: 5/10
I had heard this movie was terrible as many anime adaptations are, so I went with some friends expecting complete cinematic crap. It however, was a decent stand alone film. It is important to remember it is an adaptation, so they made some changes to better fit their story. While I don't mind changing things, they completely changed Eren, Mikasa, and Armin's characters, as well as making small changes to some of the others. Hell, Annie was completely absent from the movie all together! As an adaptation, it completely missed the mark, but as a stand-alone experience, it wasn't terrible, just ok. Also, the characters looked nothing like their anime counter-parts, and I sometimes got confused who was who.

Solid boxing film. Wasn't anything spectacular but what it did do, it did very well.
Mountains rise in the distance stalwart as the stars, fading forever.
Roads ever weaving, soul ever seeking the hunter's mark.

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015) - 8/10
We've had some pretty great and unique coming-of-age movies in recent years, and this is one of them. Like The Fault in Our Stars, it features a girl with cancer, but the movie is still very different from that film. It features interesting characters with some interesting perspectives, it was both funny and emotional, and at the end I was left wondering about the point the movie makes. If you're into coming-of-age movies, you should definitely check this one out.

    Black Mass - 1/10

Johnny Depp wearing a lot of makeup, some freaky contacts that made him look more like the Mad Hatter than Whitey Bulger, horrible accents all around, and just a blah film. I fell asleep :/

    The Martian 8/10

Bit of an information dump at times, with some ludicrous resolutions - but a good survival movie. Highly recommended.

You will have a sore ass after the 144min run time though.

    The Martian 8/10.
Well directed and written, good performances. Highly enjoyable sci-fi adventure. Not much to say. It's well made and effective film making. I was never bored and highly engaged in the drama.

Great movie, beautiful photography and a very fun atmosphere. Matt Damon's character is really nice and you can feel his struggles eventhough he's always in a good mood. Plus, I loved the little references here and there.

A horror movie set on a space station where a number of individuals wake up to find that they've been asleep much longer than expected and the ship is now infested by creatures that want nothing more than to rip them apart. In terms of horror it's pretty decent with a fair few creepy moments. There's a lot of psychological horror as well - which is where the movie shines in my opinion.

The ending is both satisfying and abrupt at the same time. I'd say it's well worth a watch.
Ahhhh! Thats one of my favorite movies of all time!

    It Follows 3/10
While the idea of it is scary, the storyline was very lacking and quite boring. The path they could have taken to make the movie better is very obvious when you watch it. The ending is also one of the worst I have ever seen.

    Spy (2015) - 8/10
Enjoyed this action-comedy a lot more than I thought I would. I was pretty skeptic in the beginning, but once it really got going, it was great fun. The plot got somewhat convoluted by the end, which kind of came in the way of the humor at times, but it never completely messed the movie up. I got a kick out of how they played with expectations and spy tropes too.

Higashi no Eden Trilogy: 0 ~ 10 Unless the "extra business" following that bullshit ending meant that Akira went back to Saki after hunting down and smacking Ato upside his head as promised, then it'd get an 8.5 or 9. I demand my Scooby-Doo ending, dammit!

Went to see Maze Runner: the Scorch Trials for a school paper review. My partner and I gave it a generous 2.5/5. Honestly, the movie was utterly terrible. The only good part was the special effects and settings. The rest was total shit.

Saw Red again, really, really good movie. At least an 8/10.

Tons of crazy characters, awesome face-off between Bruce Willis and Karl Urban (yay, from Wellington, yay), great action, some basic romance but not too much (and always funny), John Malkovich being silly good.

Exactly what I'd expect from an action/comedy movie. (2nd is also a great movie)

Kyonyu Dragon - Onsen Zombie VS Stripper 5 - 6.5/10

Well.. of course, I didn't expect much. A few great things in there. A nice ping pong scene, a nice sudden zombie flame throwing vagina with teeth, some funny scenes, a few tentacles, lots of chainsaw and sword zombie-splitting, a demon with a business card, some terrible special effects (like the stone wall that moves on the ground when someone moves inside xD).

Maria (Mari Sakurai) was really... good, and she always had the best outfits, and they always remained on o.o

(And no, no porn, just a few boobs from time to time, not much.)

    Fast & Furious 6 7/10

Solid action movie. Not really Fast & Furious anymore but it went in a great direction. Weird to spoiler Han's death in a post credit scene.

    Fast & Furious 7 10/10

One of the most amazing cinematography I've ever seen. The camera work is absolutely incredible. Great action scenes. And I actually cried at the end. The only bad thing about the movie is Ronda Rousey. Can't stand her. Good thing she's only in the movie for 1 fight scene.

    The Martian (2015) - 8.7/10
I don't like giving none-whole scores, and I will probably "officially" give it an 8, but I want to emphasize that it's one of the closest-to-9 8's I've ever given. It's another great realistic sci-fi space movie released around October-November, just like Interstellar last year, and Gravity the year before that. If you liked either of those, you'll probably like this. It's technically beautiful, it has great performances, a gripping story with good tension, and a nice layer of humor. In some ways I like this more than Gravity, which I gave a 9/10, but I might give Gravity an edge for being "first" and more novel. I had a friend who asked the rest of us whether we thought this movie had something that wasn't already in Interstellar and Gravity, and while I would say yes, then it's true that large parts have been seen before in those movies.

A few last thoughts on the movie:

The movie is kinda long, which might make some people fatigued watching it, although that didn't bother me too much.

The movie takes place across a laaaarge amount of time, and I often found myself wonder "don't these people get bored by space?"

This is probably the first space movie to feature ABBA.

    The Martian (2015): 9/10

Yep, this did exactly what I wanted it to do. Really well executed stuff overall. Only thing that didn't really resonate with me is the lack of the feeling of complete helplessness and isolation, some people are cold blooded about stuff, but no one can remain that cool.
