Laughing, no, I don't mind. It sucks when someone makes a joke of some kind and there's this dead silence and then people are like "That was funny dude, I loled." Actually laughing is much more genuine.

Granted, you shouldn't hold down your vent key for an entire long laugh, that can get annoying, but I actually prefer it when I or a guildie shows that we're actually chuckling or laughing at something funny.

Sure, if someone has a consistently obnoxious laugh, and always feels the need to keep their mic open for 30 seconds while they're cackling away, that's overkill. But I don't think that you CAN'T for some reason, laugh in Vent. Just don't be a dumbass. And, of course, coughing and burping an shit is another story.

EDIT: Also, your poll comes off as pretty biased, it's sort of funny. :|

Only if its the person that tries to talk while they are laughing and then another queues up trying to talk and laugh at the same time, otherwise nah, let em laugh :P

Are you really that much of an anti-social that you can't enjoy the laughter of others around you? It's up-lifting man, you should try it some time.
If I wanna do some icc25 I'm really more interested in slaying the boss and getting my loot. And to do this without wasting too much time or effort.
When I feel like socializing, I don't do it in wow, I go outside and meet my real friends. Everyone of you guys should have a real life so get out there if you are concerned about your "anti-socialism" instead of laughing on vent -.-

I personally never go on vent in PuGs but I still prefer talking over typing. I only talk when there is something to talk about as in arenas or the LK fight.

    "I could care less"

So, if I choose this option, it means that I care? Since I could care less than I already do?

Well if there is something important going on or something important to be said, I assume that the RL would just say "Clear Vent!"
Reality hits like a baseball bat, duck-taped to a bus on top of a truck ... thats moving very fast!

I guess what he means is that when you press the button to laugh in vent it feels like a "laugh-on-command". Really weird. I have thought about this as well.

Let's assume something funny happens and you laugh. Then you realize nobody heard it, cause you weren't pushing the button. Do you laugh again while holding down the button so everybody can hear you laughing? Isn't that stupid?

On the other it's just normal that you want to laugh about a joke and people to hear it, even if it wasn't funny in the first place. It's kind of a polite thing.

Laughing is very much appreciated by the person who told the joke and unless you're trying a super hard boss and need full concentration, I see no reason not to laugh.

When people make weird noises they usually play with voice activation rather than push to talk, simply because voice activation is superior in a raiding environment. Tell them their voice activation picks up too much background noise, so they can change the threshold, and if they really are doing it on purpose, mute them. Usually they're not even aware of it until somebody tells them, so give them a break and appreciate the fact that they're trying to be good raiders.

    Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game

    As an illustration:

Major League Baseball Player: "I don't know, if i wanna do some World Series im really more interested in getting home runs and getting paid. And to do this without wasting too much time or effort. When I feel like socializing, I don't do it while playing baseball with 17 other guys, I go outside and meet my real friends."

NASCAR Driver: "I don't know, if i wanna do some Daytona 500 im really more interested in driving really fast and seeing the checkered flag. And to do this without wasting too much time or effort. When I feel like driving down the road with other people, I don't do it while racing at the track, I go outside and meet my real friends."

Premier League Soccer player: "I don't know, if i wanna do some World Cup im really more interested in shots on goal and endorsements. And to do this without wasting too much time or effort. When I feel like socializing, I don't do it with my teammates, I go outside and meet my real friends."

I hope this has been informative and instructive.

EDIT: In case the irony was too dense to navigate through, I'm trying to say that interacting with other humans is a part of life. Sure, some people do things that piss you off. I guarantee that there are also people that you piss off on a regular basis. If we all went around bitching at each other about all the little things each other does to piss each other off, nothing would get done, because every single human on the planet pisses someone off. In civilized societies we learn constructive ways of dealing with it, like not paying attention to that person, or even sometimes *gasp* broadening our horizons, being less uptight about forcing others to act how we want to, and realizing that we aren't the only person, nor the most important person, nor even a particularly meaningful person if you take a long view. Remember, kids. In 100 years, nobody will remember any of our names; we'll just be dust on the ground. You'll be a lot happier on a daily basis if you learn to control yourself and your own actions, instead of always trying to control everyone else around you.

So instead of telling the person to stop laughing in vent, take some control over your own actions and mute him. Problem solved.

TL;DR You're just as big an asshole for forcing him to stop laughing, as he is for forcing you to listen to him laugh.

Yep. You are at least a one on the scale of caring, since you could care some amount less than you do.

I'm surprised "When I make a joke I expect people to laugh their heart out and I love to hear them, its my fetish!" isn't winning by a landslide.

Oh and loling at a good joke (ones that worth the lol) is expected, dead silence is like a slap to the face. Personally if i said a joke that was funny as hell and no one loled i would think my mic was broken.
When I went up the stair, I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today. I wish I wish he'd go away.

Also in raids vent is not for socializing. The only reason you use it is because it's more convenient and practical for boss fiights than party/raid chat. That's why you only use it when the encounter is hard. You don't use it in 5 mans. That's because you only want to do the content. You only want to play the game. That's why usually there's not much conversation happening in party chat in 5 mans.

It's not winning because the OP phrased it in a biased way, calling it a "fetish," when it's actually a natural human reaction to find enjoyment in positive feedback.

you do realize, that some people may cough and sneeze while using "activate on voice" option? Same goes for laughing. Besides, what's so bad about laughing over vent? If there is a reason to laugh why not? People invented smiles to bring some emotions to silent text chats, so why step backwards in voice chats?

I think your issue is actually "Should people make jokes/talk at all about non-fight related things in vent," rather than "if someone makes a joke, should you laugh at it?"

I take it you've been to every voice chat that ever occurred in WoW and that is why you're claiming what you're claiming wit such confidence?
I'm guildless right now, but in a few of those guilds I've been in, there would usually be some people chatting on vent even when they weren't playing WoW, or were doing dailies, etc. And no, none of those guilds were mostly "social" guilds.

I would feel bad if someone in Vent told a joke and all you got was silence because everyone was laughing without their talk button down. :/

    Man...talk about depressing.

I press my push to talk button when I laugh. It's more like being with my mates IRL.
I know of a few people who have an annoying voice and we tell them to stfu and all is fine
