I just got this while in an instance, popup came first then came the whisper. I know the whisper is fake but how would they get that popup on my UI?

Well that's weird. I'd say it's obviously fake. Hopefully less aware players won't fall for it due to that pop-up.

As a general rule, if you have to ask it's fake, but i've never seen this before, did you speak to a GM about it? If so what was their response?

that popup isn't fake. i've had it before when i used to use game time cards when it was about to run out...now that i use a cc it's all good and game time just adds on immediately.

I, for one, had the pop-up before. Users don't see it often as you have to be on 30 minutes before your game time expires. Note that the pop-up itself is nothing dangerous. It doesn't give you a link to follow, and it's not claiming to be anything more then just a notification. So basically check to see how much time left you got (without following any fake links) and go from there.

That URL it's telling you to go to is not blizzards, nor is the way that whisper goes (GM Whispers have a different system altogether nowadays with a pop-up in the right corner you have to click to initiate the GM chat). No clue how they managed to make that 30min pop-up appear though. That's a bit worrying.

Nope only got the message 30 minutes ago. At 1 minute I got spammed 100 times with "Your play time expires in 1 minute". STill online though.

seems strange to me that the pop up (legit or not) comes at the same time you get /w by a spammer. to be safe maybe check your pc for malicious sw.

It would be possible to make an add-on pop up the box in response to a certain whisper (I don't know if you can pop up the real box or just one that looks like it but that doesn't really matter). I'd suggest you check all your add-ons it may not be the add-ons author who added it, malicious software could be injecting the code changes on your computer or someone could have broken into the site you downloaded the add-on from.

That's the popup that tells you when your game card is about to expire lol, just a coincidence that it popped at the same time as the whisper.

the scammer was just lucky enough to whisper you at the exact same moment.
The whisper is fake. But your play time actually expired, so go buy a new one

the whisper was probably just right after the popup came, which means you have 30 min left. if theyd ban you youd get a blizz whisper then insta-logout

I've seen the warning. You probably just don't play about half an hour before the warning comes.
