    switching your main

How many of you stick with your main, just cuz he's always been your main?
I have played a warrior for the past 5 years. He is my only level capped player, has many achievements and mounts ive worked very hard for too. Over the last few weeks, I have level a shaman (as resto). I have had so much fun playing this shaman, just because its something completely new to me. Now that cata is out, I dont know which character to focus on. I usually only enjoy focusing on one character (personal choice). Anyone else feel this way or have advice?

I have started a new "main".... My main is still lvl 80 and i dont think i am gonna play with him again. Only 1 thing that really sux about that; achievements.... but who who cares

I have played rogue since early vanilla until now when ive changed my main to my mage. Ive lost around 4k achievements points and all rep/mounts, but none of this matters when im enjoying a raid.

I play my warrior(my first, my main) very little now after the incredibly poor hand Fury was dealt with the last nerfs. I enjoy my pally and DK now mostly.

My main from Vanilla/BC thru WoLtK was a Mage. But this past summer I leveled a Druid and loved it so much, I have made it my main for Cataclysm.

I have played since mid TBC, and I have a bad case of altoholism.

While it IS fun to play new classes/specs, and I quite enjoy the leveling process: I often wish I had stuck with one class. There are certain things you lose out on by switching mains.

Achievements don't swap over, mounts, vanity pets, all the grinding work you've done on already, you lose it all. Also the player affiliation -other players will know you by your character, and whatever reputation you have garnered.

By sticking to one character, you REALLY will gain the truest perspective on that class, you'll gather the largest prideful collection of mounts, pets, achievements, etc. You also grow attachment to the character... having lots of memories attached to them and being able to play them so fluidly, always in practice, up to date etc.

As you can see I do lament on not sticking with one main.

It's too late for me! I've played almost every class to max level, and I will continue that tradition. lol Maybe after I have all classes played at max level, I will be able to settle with ONE MAIN! =D

I started in wrath and my main was my pally... was ret then switched to holy.. now I'm playing my hunter for cata
If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One... now I am become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds.

man thats exactly how i fell. i would love to play my shaman, but ive just got so many memories of the warr...but tbh sometimes i get tired of him

I tend to pick a new main each expansion, having started shortly after TBC arrived. Started by accident without the intent of doing so really.

Warlock at the beginning, then a paladin followed by now a Shaman. Of course, by the time the expansion hit I had already leveled to max level on what would become the new main so I likely just was looking for something new at the time. Like someone else said "I have a bad case of altoholism."

I currently have too many characters at 80 to classify which is my main. My warlock, I guess, since it's 84. But once I hit 85 I plan on getting a few heroics in and then getting my priest up to 85. I can't stand only having 1 class to play, I need to switch it up constantly, but I focus on raiding primarily with my warlock.

I started in Wrath myself, built my Pally as Ret, then found my love for tanking, never looked back.

All the work and time Ive spent on my Pally is to hard to switch toons. I plan to level a Worgen Mage, we will see what happens :P

I think even if you switch your main you're still tied to one character. I've switched back and fourth between pally and rogue for almost 6 years now.. how ever i'm more tied to my blood elf paladin as opposed to my human rogue and paladin, right now i'm currently playing a goblin rogue.

I switched mains from WotLK to Cata and it seemed like a big deal when I was making that decision... but not anymore. I guess because all the old achievements and stuff that seemed important at the time has been replaced by all new stuff that none of my toons have yet.

But yeah, the history and the memories... *sigh*

I have changed my main with every expansion pack.

    Shaman in Vanilla
    Warlock in BC
    Death Knight in WotLK
and I am working on a Goblin Rogue right now.

I have a level 80 of every class except Priest, Mage and Rogue, yes I am an altoholic.

I changed my main alot during wrath, tho in vanilla i was a rogue and in BC i was a druid. Wrath i played pretty much everything and got 9 chars (apart from hunter) to 80... Some im gonna delete i think, I changed to druid late wrath but now im keeping it all through cata if i decide to play it.

In the past when I have switched mains, I always tried to pick a class that was really different. My first main was a Prot Paladin so I switched to an Affliction Warlock. And now I am considering changing to a Feral DPS Druid. It does suck leaving behind achievements/mounts but it is also exciting starting over fresh, especially learning a completely new class. Plus, it's a perfect time to experience the new changes with the revamped zones of Cataclysm.
    Knowledge is power.
