I saw a pretty good thread on WoW Insider (see wow.joystiq.com - Breakfast Topic, Dec. 10, 2010) about this and wanted to see what people think here.
I lean towards Krasus/Korialstrasz or Rhonin for hero and Arthas/Lich King or Kil'Jaeden for villain.

I think it's a tie between Illidan and Arthas.
Although I also love Sylvannas! And I'm starting to like Garrosh even more.

Neutral (I have to put those i am uncertain on where to place)
Illidan Stormrage (What harm did he cause Azeroth from Outland?)
Garona (she did a lot of horrible stuff, but she was mind controlled, but still)

I like a lot of characters, but Thrall and Saurfang are amongst my favorites. I also love Dreadlords, Mal'Ganis and Varimathras primarily of them.
EDIT: Oh how could I forget Gul'Dan, love him.
