    Recommended changes for increased performance?

After the sundering I've noticed a huge drop in FPS, like from 60 to 12. I've tried switching all graphic settings to the lowest possible and this doesn't help at all, I'm assuming there must be something somewhere I'm missing. Here is my current setup:

    Q6600 - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU @2.4GHz
    4GB of DDR2 Ram
    ATI 4650
    64 Windows Home Premium

I can't find the other specs, it was a prebuilt computer I bought from Bestbuy 4 years ago, its ACER made. If I need to list something else any tips on how to find it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried without having addons loaded at all?
If it that suddenly dropped, and changing to the lowest doesn't help, my guess it's addon and/or old cache.

How do I go about clearing the cache?

So while I was looking to find the specs on my components I left the cover off and reloaded wow and my fps went back up to almost 60, is it possible my computer is over heating and slowing itself down?

Are you getting low FPS in the old zones as well?

I have have worse specs than that, running on all high and getting better FPS. That's strange. I haven't been to the new areas though.

It is everywhere, however as I was looking for the specs on my computer I left the side of my case open and now I'm seeing 35-50fps, is it possible my computer is overheating and that is affecting my performance?

I've also noticed that my latency has gone up considerably too, I used to run anywhere from 40-90ms, and now I'm at around 400-600ms

If your fans can't handle it, either by needing a scrubbin', being old, being worn out, your processor would likely suffer.
I suggest getting CoreTemp and checking how warm you run your computer (with the case closed).

I've downloaded the core temp Program and it says each core is running at about 62 degrees

    With what load%? Overclocked?
    It sounds very high, regardless.

Its not overclocked as far as I know, the load percents are at about 50 depending on what I'm doing, and it says Tj. Max 85 degrees

As with every aging system, upgrading the whole thing will result in more performance.

See I thought that even though it was old it was still a decent system, when I bought it it was top of the line

I just looked around a bit more and it seems I only have a 300W power supply, from reading around on the forums that seems to be a little low?

Yeah that is quite a small psu particularly if your card need a power cable aswell as slot into the mobo

If I was to modify my case and add an extra fan or two would I need to upgrade my power supply?

Assuming thats your problem adding anything that would drain more power wouldnt be good. but realy...how much money are you prepared to spend is the real question :P

Honestly, if it says Alienware, it's not a good buy. I am not here to say don't buy them. If you have the money to spend, by all means go for it, but no it's not a decent computer for the price.

Had this been in Sweden, I'd advice you to buy it straight-off.
In the US, things are (in comparison) really cheap, and by those standards, that's overpriced.
You can get the same computer with a different case far cheaper. You would be paying $400~ for the Alienware (Dell!) name.
