Standing on top of places and killing people so the guards cant get you. Fair?

So i was questing on my alt today in hyjal, I enter the inn and 2 mins later im being hit by Wrath... Im like wtf this is a pvp free zone. I get killed... I fly up and there is a druid on the roof... I dot him with flame shock, i get killed by the guards... I watched this druid for a couple mins while i was questing, he was killing afk players who were in side the building. And guards could not kill him because he is standing on top of the roof. So im like fuck it im going to hop on my main and camp this dude.

I log my lock, i kill him on the roof by sneaking up on him. But then he respawns and typhoons me off the roof. And guess what!? The guards kill me!

I continued to watch him, i was q'ed for lfg. So i decided to protect the area, killing him when i could. Because i knew he would typhoon me. This guy easily killed a couple dozen people off this cheesy glitch.

I reported him to GM, a couple other players were talking about him in defense. So i told them report him.

Some guy out of no where said...

"LOL what plant do you live on, why would you report him..."

Im like "thats grieving..."

Then he says "pvp is greifing"

I reply.. "pvp is fighting each other... Not standing on roofs and glitching guards..."

How do you guys feel about this tactic, its going to be far more prevalent now that flying is everywhere.

Definitely griefing, could even possibly be considered exploiting. Yeah, you can fly up there and deal with the guy, but it's a PvP-free zone for a reason. I'm sure the GMs will deal with it and you may see Blizz put some rooftop guards there in the near future.

It's totaly fair! PvP is what it is! No one said it has to be fair. Or... you can stay and duel all day and think you're pvp-ing

World PvP is totally about getting 85, going to the expansion starter zone and killing player 4-5 levels lower than you.

I dont think this counts as griefing provided it wasn't a bug that allowed him to get there, ganking has never been considered griefing, ever. Corpse camping can be in very extreme cases, but even then its rare for anything to happen.

It might be considered exploiting with how he is doing it by avoiding the guards ( not sure). but it is not griefing since its a pvp server and the usual response is along the lines of if there is a pvp solution ( you killing him on your lock) then they will not get involved. if he was killing low levels without mains and corpse camping them then they might do something.

i dont play a pvp server (cos im feeble) but that seems like exploiting the games mechanics to me, you are not allowed to do it to npcs as there is an evade mechanic so why should you be able to avoid the guards and kill players by getting in a position where they cant hit you, and if they manage to they get kill by the guards.

i bet all the people who said it was fine are logging on right now to grief others...

Yet in Orgrimmar and Booty Bay guards were fixed so they can shoot you off the roof (or whatever it is they do). You're allowed to kill and camp everyone, but not to avoid the guards like this.

Honestly, that's the sort of thing I like about world PVP on PVP servers. It's not about fair fights; if that's what you want, there are BGs and arenas or just flat-out dueling. World PVP is Horde vs. Alliance at its best. If it's 100 against 1, that's only because you haven't found 99 friends yet. If he's beating you because he's smart, you need to be smarter.

From the sounds of your story and your signature, you're a warlock and you can beat him. Why not drop a summoning circle when you get up there and rape his face off? If he typhoons you down, you insta-teleport back up and finish the ass beating. Or get back on your shaman and thunderstorm him off the roof. If you're good, you can even get him in combat with you first and let the guards do the dirty work for you. Extra points for you because you get the guy a repair bill doing it that way. That's something my guildies and I were absolute pros at in Wrath.

It's an easy problem for Blizzard to fix if they want to: Rooftop guards, or go BC-style and give flying guards knock-back attacks. Maybe the fact that they chose not to was an oversight, or maybe it was intentional. To paraphrase their own PVP policy page (http://us.blizzard.com/support/artic...rticleId=20456), PVP problems have PVP solutions -- and with this expansion fanning the flames of hatred between the factions more than any other, it's something I honestly think they would want to encourage.

The problem is, placing yourself somewhere the guards can never reach you and killing people in a sanctuary zone is called exploiting. Just because dickheads have done this since the day the servers went live doesn't mean it is allowed. How about using that brain of yours for a change?

True, the whole "NPC guard" thing is very badly implemented. Sometimes when somebody attacks you in a camp and you dare to fight back the guards will kill you too for defending yourself...
