After 525 get ready to get real pissed at fossil digsites. If you haven't already discovered both fossil rares and all their commons you will shortly. By the time you actually get the rare Dwarf/Nelf/Troll/Tolvir item your after you will probably have about 1000 fragments you have no use for lol.

Very much this. I have over 150 fossile fragments that are useless, nothing rare or useful in Fossile that I haven't already got.

I have all fossil rares ( raptor, raptor pet ). And two Nelf rares ( mirror and queen azshara's dressing gown ).

I only farm in Kalimdor to get digsites in tol'vir. I'm in the good way?

Ya you won't have any choice but to run into them. If you want Tolvir rares it is what you have to do. I just went through a chain of fossil sites that went Ungorox4-Dustwallow-Ungoro-Dustwallow-Barrens-Ungoro all spawning one after the other while I was trying to push all my spawns back north. Basically just keep plowing away and pray to the RNG gods that you get something good.

Currently standing on 1300+ fossil fragments, made 150+ Nelf common artifacts since past 450 trying to get the fecking trinket... no luck. Tol'vir, got the achievement for the boy emperor, LOADS of commons for 4 jars with no recipe... wasted my time getting that shit 'fun' scarab item for 150 fragments. Only good thing I've got so far's been the boy emperor ring.


The damn 'drop rate' of these items shouldn't be so god damn morbidly low...

Maybe you should consider that Blizzard has already stated that they will likely be adding new things to discover with Archaeology in future patches? So don't know those excess Fossil fragments yet guys!

So many fossil fragments, I've had my mount since 175 and pet since 180 Archaeology skill, and then it decided all I was gonna get was fossil digsites, I have like four hundred extra fragments at 525 now >.<

You ought to use them to get all 12 commons at least before you brush em off :P

Random is random. On my second Tol'vir research thing, i got that Canopic jar but wasnt so lucky that i got the recipe for vials of sands in it, only the mummified organs (im alchemist). But! But but but, on my third research project in tol'vir artifacts i was so lucky to discover [Ring of the boy emperor], epic 359 lvl 85 caster ring. My guildies have only got lvl 60 epic stuff so far. So go on ^^ You will prolly get something.... Some day.... Rng <3
Oh yeah and im skill 525.
