That's because it nearly was . They were unsure if the show COULD continue, after Tennant, but in the end it's too much of a cashcow for them to let go.

as for spinoff news SUPER EXCITED the world needs more buffy type stuff, hoping for a slightly more mature sarah jane adventures. weve needed a spin off for a long time. I still dont trust the no series 10 rumours. the ratings babble is way overblown, yes theyre down a bit in the uk but the beebs biggest market just had its highest doctor who ratings ever on bbcamerica, where they actually get ad revenue.

i could see a situation like orphan black though where they get the bbcamerica branch to help cofinance the show. doctor who is the beebs golden cow they wont get rid of it, in fact i would probably be confident to say doctor who will never get cancelled again.

anyways. havent seen the last two episodes so gonna watch and post my thoughts as I watch them live like last time

Massive improvement on the first two episodes. Just keep Moffat's hands away from the episodes in between the opener and finale, no matter how much he wants to weave in his story arcs with the subtely of a brick to the face, and maybe this will turn out a decent series.

you guys are aware even the episodes moffat doesnt write he still writes quite a good bit of them or tells the writer what to put into it or change.

hes had interviews before where people mention a line or a joke from an episode and ask why moffat doesnt do stuff like that and hes like "but i wrote that joke" hes a showrunner for a reason, every episode has a bit of moffat in it

5/6 aren't a two parter but the reason why they have a similar title is because Maisie Williams is in both of em and the title (I assume) refers to her character. Definitely separate stories based on the descriptions and cast though.
