    What's Uldum doing in WoW...

So, Uldum.....what do you guys make of it ?
I just can't get around the feeling it doesn't belong in Wow.
The egyptian theme, helping out Harrison Jones fighting " Zee german Paratroopers ( who almost look like they got imported from some fps game from the 90's ).
To me it just doesn't belong in Wow.
Now, I'm no lore expert at all, so maybe I'm missing some old lore which supports Uldum being in the game.
Just feels as a zone added to compensate for the lack of new content otherwise.

    My question to you.
    Uldum, yes or no ?

You mightve wanted to read ques text and watched the cinematics in it so that it becomes obvious what it does in WoW.

    Also inb4 Gnome bashing.

Uldum has always been there, just like Hyjal.

Seeing as the titans shaped azeroth to their will, and everything about uldum is about the titans and based off of what we know\have seen the titans are all Egyptian-y god- like beings, why wouldn't a place like Egypt (uldum) be where they choose to live\ rest.

Its a Titan area, there is a powerfull weapon hidden there, Deathwing found out about it and destroyed the cloaking device that was covering it up, then he sent his Goblin minions in to find it.

if you were a lore junkie or even knew the basis of titan and uldum lore you would know why

but basically, deathwing found out about a power titan weapon and is trying to recover it

We have Atlantis, Egypt and the core of Azeroth. All we need is some aliens coming after the Draenei and we are set. Oh and Bobby Ewing not dying in the shower.

yes. It's FAR more than egyption theme..It actually revolves around the Titans. Uldaman, Ulduar, and now Uldum. All of them titan lore based.

    Are you guys kidding me!
There was next to no titan lore in Uldum!

I can see where you are coming from. WOTLK had a real theme to it. Cold/Frozen/Fjordlike places. I'm a bit confused with Cataclysm. Theres underwater zones, egyptian zones and instances, the malestrom, 'the shire' in twilight highlands... jesus, they could have picked one and expanded it for this expansion.

Uldum was the zone i love the most in WoW the other zones got jack shit on it, all we are missing is Daniel Jackson and Jack O'neill Teal'c and Samantha Carter and a couple of Gua'uld and the zone could have been renamed: Stargate zone!1!1!11 GO GO!
    Oh hi

Uldum's been there since WoW vanilla. It's been mentioned along with Uldaman and Ulduar, and it was always assumed that it was a large Titan structure. It probably was intended as one, with the doors in Tanaris leading into it. But they decided to make it into a full zone for Cataclysm - it was explained that Uldum was hidden behind a Titan cloaking field to keep it concealed, and that the Cataclysm unveiled it.

The 'weapon' at the heart of Uldum is a Titan machine used to 're-originate' the planet - turning it back to its original state (and exterminating all life on it, incidentally). Basically, it's the gadget Algalon the Observer would have used if he'd sent out Reply Code: Omega from Ulduar.

All that being the case, I do feel that there was a lack of lore filling out the Titan elements in Uldum - the creatures in the Halls of Origination, where the device is located, just happen to be corrupt, somehow, by someone - presumably Deathwing, but that's never mentioned. I felt there could have been some better story elements in that area.

Then there would be QQ it all looks the same. WoW players are never satisfied.

I think its fantastic and fits right in with the concept of the "Old Gods" and the Titans.

Well not necessarily, they could have made Vash'ir larger and had some land zones joined onto it.

Thanks for the info so far.
I get the part from the Titans and the world altering weapon and all.
Just wish Blizz didn't go egypt theme.
Uldaman and Ulduar neither have any egyptian feel to them.
I loved the Ulduar storyline, loved the way Ulduar looked ( blizz's best work in WOTLK imho ) but Uldum just feels graphically it belongs in a different game to me.
Placed in between Tanaris, Un'Goro and Silithus, the egypt theme just feels outta place.

And this is why the devs always put things in the easy to reach places. Players never look around at what stuff is. I don't want to spoil it but the zone has ties to the wow plot.... if you don't think so go and reread the quest lines and watch the cinematics, ALL of them and not just the references and funny antics like "NINE NINE NINE NINE NINE" or "Hide ze children, hide ze wives"
