Need opinions on - Alienware M11x

After the posts made i have decided to move away from the M15x and am wondering if the M11x would be a better option

    Spec here:
    Intel® Core™ i5 520UM 1.06GHz (3MB Cache)
    1GB Nvidia Geforce GT 335M
    2GB DDR3 800MHz RAM
    250GB SATA 7,200RPM
    Internal High-Definition 5.1 Surround Sound
    AlienFX® Illuminated Keyboard

    Thank you for your time

i think that thing is 2 or 3 years old.
you can definitly play both on it but i guess only on low and raiding and 200 / 200 supply fight will be impossible on it.

also i dont think it has waranty anymore, and since most alienware laptops are overclocked and this one is older i guess the cooler might not run at 100% of its power anymore :/? dunno rlly never had alienware i dont like them that much tbh..

Go with a dell studio xps or a (i know you ppl hate mac but i love my laptop) macbook pro. The m15x serious is so big and bulky :/ too heavy for me since i need it for school aswell.
or if you really want alienware check for last years model with the nvidia 300- series and a core i5

please correct me if im wrong with something ^^

Too old to run 25-man raids at acceptable speed. Worthless for today's gaming.
Never going to log into this garbage forum again as long as calling obvious troll obvious troll is the easiest way to get banned.
    Trolling should be.

Are they any better laptops i could get for ~£550, i am probably going to buy off e-bay seeing as its a lot cheaper

First off, I wouldn't really buy computers off of eBay if I were you, you'll never know what you'll actually get until it's too late. If you want to buy used computers look on craigslist.com (find someone who will show you the computer working), iBuyPower.com (new but very cheap gaming comps), Tigerdirect.com, or Newegg.com . On the topic of the Alienware computer, I must say that they are just overpriced Dells and you can get much better deals elsewhere, plus the 15x will probably run on low graphic settings due to the processor and the 256mb graphics card (aim for a 1gb graphics card). If you need anymore help just ask

Yes, but it cannot always be trusted, about a year ago i bought an xbox 360 from eBay and when it got to my house it was missing the power supply and then when the seller sent it to me a week later it had the red ring of death. When I logged on to track the user down it turned out that he had disabled his account.

Alienware is like the PC's mac... You pay much more than what it's worth.

I also must ask, is it absolutely necessary to have a laptop? If not get a desktop, they give more bang for your buck and are more durable while most laptops arent meant for much gaming.

If you want the best bang for your buck and you have to get a laptop, I'd go with the alienware m11x. Runs wow on ultra settings at like 20-30 fps in populated areas and 40-50 on high settings. I've pushed 40-50 on ultra but obviously not in Org. You can get one on dell's outlet store for $800 and if you google search dell outlet discount you'll find a 15% off coupon. Don't know if they'll ship to the UK though. I'm sure they have a British outlet site. They are refurbished, but there's nothing wrong with them and they come with a one year parts warranty. I'm assuming that doesn't matter much to you though given you were going to buy a computer off eBay. Good luck.

That laptop has a 11.6 inch screen which is not the best for gaming, unless you have a monitor to hook your laptop onto I dont suggest buying it, and again alienwares are overpriced

Alienware is heavily overpriced (At least in Norway, you'll get a computer with the same specs as a 14000 NoK(1500 Euro) Alienware for like 8000 NoK(1000 Euro)

Unlimited budget: Asus G73 (variant of your choice). Latest model has a 1.5GB vid card and 9 series I7

    Mid range: ASUS N61 Series N61JQ-X1 NoteBook Intel Core i7 720QM(1.60GHz) 16" 4GB Memory DDR3 1066 320GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730

    Low end (tight budget): HP - Laptop / AMD Turion™ II Processor / 15.6" Display / 4GB Memory / 320GB Hard Drive - Biscotti

    Model: g62-435dx

Asus makes the best retail supported notebooks in the world right now. Whatever anyone tells you, stay the hell away from macs. They are, in my opinion, the fashion accessory of the computer world. They are for people who know nothing of computers and/or people who work in a marketing department. The HP i recommended might give you some issues in the long term. HPs are notorious for shitty motherboards, dead AC adapters, and short life batteries. All in all, it will probably give you 2 years of use.

Then again, you can always go the desktop route and save a boatload of money. Myself, I'm a laptop fan because I can sit in a leather recliner and/or move to my bedroom if I'm feeling ultra lazy.

EDIT: Dell, Gateway, and ACER are garbage. Please do not make a mistake of buying those. A sony would probably suffice in a pinch, but you'll be paying out the nose.

The m11x is the first competitively priced laptop from alienware and not just a boutique computer. The size of the screen is 11.6 inches but wether that's a pro or con depends on the person. In the US atleast, you will not find a computer for $700, the price of a refurbished m11x, that plays video games as well as the m11x. That is a fact. If you want to buy a computer with a bigger screen then do so, but it will not perform as well in that price range. This is from a US perspective however and taxes and vendors vary around the world.

That would really kind-of depend on the price that you're paying for it.

It will run WoW but the real question is are you getting your money's worth.

You can't upgrade the video card on a laptop. It doesn't work the same way as desktop components.

I would go with something like this instead:
    TOSHIBA Satellite L655-S5114 NoteBook Intel Core i5 460M $799

I had a similar laptop that played WoW on mid-high settings and SC2 on max. Very solid gaming laptop for the price.

^This, and it's not really possible to replace a laptop-GPU. Very often they're soldered onto the motherboard.
