    Remove all addons

    rage post incoming.

I've been into several guilds, leaving and re-entering because people just can't progress with 5man HC gear fast enough
I'm a competetive raider, always been. So ofcourse I prefer raiding with other competetive players that really wants to reach realm first and so on. Not happening this expansion
I raided throughout all of Vanilla and BC, quit during WOTLK sold my account and started again now recently. And it's a pain in the ass getting a good guild, the main thing other then my class being warrior to all the declines. "UI is to clean"
    Wat?
That's the reason for 80% of my declines, UI to clean(Not having enough addons) or being a fury warrior.
    wat?
imo, wow has become to dependant of addons, I don't see how addons would help you perform better in any way other then maybe one to track your big cd's
It's getting out of hand just like achievements and gearscore was

    Uuuh.. what?

Granted there are certain addons that are a must, like Omen and Deadly Boss mods, but so long as you're doing your DPS properly, staying out of the fire, and doing any other actions necessary of you, I fail to see how 'lack of addons' is any justification for rejection.

I will say, however, that you might be shooting yourself in the foot by shifting guilds a lot. Word will get out that you have no loyalty and your new guild might try to contrive excuses to get you to leave since it seems you will, anyway.

It's not WoW, but it's people. All players from top guilds use an UI, so therefor good people are pplayers with a lot of addons. I have to agree that an UI can help you to achieve things more easier, but it isn't what determines if you're good or not.

In my 6+ years of playing, dozens of guilds as both grunt and leader, end game progression and casual, have I ever run across an issue such as this, or people caring about others add-ons for that matter.

Not saying it didn't happen. But it is certainly not prevalent. Sorry about your experience.

You don't need addons in today's environment. Bossmods are vastly overrated, cooldown trackers likewise. The only Addon I truly feel dependant of is OmniCC, couldn't live without numbers displaying CDs. Giving it some thought you can easily keep your rotation up and avoid whatever fire the current PvE content has to offer.

Having said that, I love my custom UI too much to ever revert to the original UI, but that's not the issue at hand.

Like the poster above me said, most guilds will require addons such as Omen and dbm, and addons such as these have been necessary for raiding since vanilla (which you should remember). If "80%" of your guild rejections are because of your UI, atleast post it here so we can offer advice.

This may be beside the point but make sure you post a UI screenshot taken during a 25 man raid. I know my UI is very busy during raiding but when I am solo it is pretty sparse.

My take on it is as long as the member is running the required raid addons I dont care what else they have. Yes some other addons are recomended as they are helpful but if the player prefers runing their UI vanilla thats up to them. We only require boss mods Omen and our lootmod though.

I personaly run alot more but most are information tracking as I raid lead and need to be able to track quite a few things at once that the default UI kinda lacks or has in hard to view places.

I agree that for most DPS people, UI mods, and mods in general are unnecessary. While some are useful for tracking purposes(I love tracking how much damage I take), most of them aren't needed. Ability cooldowns is sometimes nice, but WoW's integrated that with their "SO-IN-SO IS ABOUT TO CAST *ABILITY*!! RUN AWAY!" text.

Having a fancy UI is overrated, in my opinion. It hasn't made me a better player going from standard to custom.
Don't get me wrong, I'm an UI nut like any other. But I don't see why it should matter. I did just fine with DBM when I used a standard UI. Omen? Pfft. Enable threat above the nameplates. It even measures %. And with all the emotes the bosses provides, even a boss mod is useless.
Wanna keep track on the boss' health as healer? /focus, or just target him when you can for a short second.

My point of this story is that guilds rejecting because of UI issues, is not a serious guild. Serious guilds should know it's all about the player.

There's not many addons you actually need today.
Omen is pretty useless since even the default unitframes will show you how close you are to the tank on aggro. Threatmeter (before Omen) was really useful back in Vanilla mainly due to the fact that tanks didn't have all the tools they have today for threat, and some bosses required tank switching but pretty much all of them taunt immune. In TBC it still had some use, in WotLK it became useless because as a tank you pretty much couldn't lose aggro once you had it and in Cata WoW has threatmeter built in and any decent tank won't lose aggro anyway.
DBM well it's still useful but in no way needed since there's emotes for pretty much everything, just pay attention.

possibly the guild leaders saw your UI as either your one of those types that just puts abilitys on your bar and goes to town on anything thats right clickable

contact them and ask what may be the problem, possibly not seeing omen and DBM might be an issue for progressive raiding, possibly they would like to see an addon that tracks procs/rage/ when cds are avalible

Here is one of my UI

Addons used: Recount, Omen, and Deadly Boss
Edit: I just recently downloaded these addons, concidering all my declines, I just can't get myself to get one changing my UI. It'd kill my experience tbh

DBM is a must have? All it does is reiterate things that the boss emotes, and really damn annoying at that. Threat meter is built into the game so there goes omen. Damage meters like Skada etc good to see if your doing decent dps, but still optional. I can see what this guy means, in wotlk I was watching add ons and not the game so much. This became obvious at points where DBM malfunctioned in some way and reacted improperly just because I had become so dependent on its alerts when if Id just been watching the game there would be no trouble. Ive often mentioned, what is the use in a tense fight situation of an add on screaming at you and making alarming BZZZZONK! noises. It doesnt really help you to keep a clear head which is more important imo. DBM is just an excuse to not learn the fight mechanics.

I have filger for tukui, helps keep track of dots on the mobs, that is indispensable I have to say.

    ---------- Post added 2011-01-04 at 06:35 PM ----------

There was once a day when people didnt have any of this hoo haa and everyone seemed to enjoy the game more. I think most dps now watch there DPS meter more than anything in the fight.

Well, ye... I've never needed any addons. Only one I've ever used actually is Snowfallkeypress, but that was purely for pvp and not pve related. Never had a use to get any addons, but now I keep getting rejected with different things like "UI is to clean" and "How do you keep track of certain things?" I reply with By looking down at my bars ofc, barely has to do that. Because the second you see a proc in your eye corner after a while you know exactly what that proc is
