    Improving Lightwell awareness/usage

So i was reading a bue-tracked thread about Lightwell usage were said blue-poster argued players have to get used to using lightwell like they got used to summoning healthstones or mage cookies.
This has me thinking... maybe there would be more awareness about the use of lightwell if it was relying on some "teamwork" to bring to the battlefield.

A simple channeled summoning requiring all group to clic the summoning portal before the lightwell can be droped would raise "symbolical value" (wow, we need 5 people to bring this out, must be important) of the well. A more coercitive option would be that only those that helped bring the well could recieve it's healing...

Of course this means it would be difficult to renew during a fight but duration/charges/health could be tweaked accordingly.

(habitual disclaimer : posting here because blizzard forgot european forums ^^ )

I don't see how making it a bigger pain in the ass to use would help anyone.

People just need to learn to use it - priests needs to be aware of correct placement - tell the raid to use it - have your raid leader reinforce this too. Ive been banging on about Lightwell so much to my guildies it hasnt taken them long to realise the benefits. They now understand it heals for a hellofa lot and can be a life saver especially if ur priest is OOM.

Lightwell is priceless on encounters such as Chimeron during Feud.

Can't do that in a fight. It would end up as a "meh, too much work. let's bring a paladin instead". I say we want to make it easier to use, not harder. It's already pretty simple to use, and good dpsers love it. But some people are just incompetent at clicking on stuff in the 3D world.

So you would want to lose the ability to place it wherever you want to before the fight, as it does not aggro upon placement, and to replace ones used up when your cooldown is up? Yeah, great idea to make it half-useless again! :)

I fear making it require multiple people would make it even less used. It's already quite good healing wise, so you can't just give it a huge buff in return without affecting overall healing balance.

Personally having a macro in your lightwell that informs people in party/raid chat it's up will make me 100% more likely to notice and click it. In a lot of fights there's already a lot of aoe effects and boss abilities going on, so it's easy to miss it while looking at all the other stuff.

Bad change. Like Caine said, it would become impossible to pre-cast it near a boss, and you can't replace it mid-fight.

It's a matter of attitude. I admit that I am running with a regular group, but I recently even Glyphed for my Lightwell and *still* there are fights where the lightwell expires before the cooldown does. Which is a good thing, because it means it served its purpose.

Now for the rest of my guild ...

Guild Raid + Priest with Vent = People clicking on the damn lightwell!

Its great for aoe situations. Good raiders will use it. People who aren't aware shouldn't be in a decent raid team.

We just gotta tell those people you can click Lightwell from a 15 yard range, while casting, while stunned and while moving. It's epic, people just gotta find out for themselves before they'll believe it :P

When I'm on my Priest, I tell everyone that if I don't see DPS clicking the lightwell they're not getting healed. It's a core healing tool and extremely powerful. Almost everybody has agreed and not given any trouble. I'll still rescued the odd awful DPS from dying who can't follow orders but I'll never top them up, that's what the lightwell's for. The approach works for me, it seems dickish but the DPS need to think about it. Why should I waste my time and mana topping people up when there's a thing on the ground that can do it for them whenever they want?

It'd be a funny scene to have 5 DDs run to the priest to summon some sort of tricky healing something, when they are even too lazy and too focussed on topping meters to simply click on the Lightwell (which basically costs no time or anything).

"Come here to summon my Lightwell in order for you guys to click on it by yourself!" -

    way more fun than

"Guys, Lightwell incoming! Click on the Lightwell!!"

Our holy priest (not me) is very vocal about using the well.
She also has a macro that pops when she places a new one. It says: REMEMBER the Lightwell! Which is kinda funny since she's a Belf.
And besides, it's awesome! Why wouldn't you use it?

Whenever we have LW up (not from me, I'm disc) and people dip low, I ask them to use it via voice comm.

Just make an incredibly irritating /y macro and proceed to spam it every .01 second like every other priest in the world!

edit: I'm kidding, lightwell is pretty good now and actually useful, which is a pretty big incentive to click it once people get into raiding a bit more and realize this.

spam who got healed by lightwell at the end of the fight - see who was too lazy to click it (especially on fights like twin dragons, where ppl grp up on certain point, where could stand the lightwell - no excuse not to click then).

name and shame those ppl who didnt bother to click even once for the whole evening and you will see effects.

Instead of actively disciplining our raid groups and potentially pissing people off, what if the Lightwell was somewhat like a totem and had an AOE-type buff to people in x-yards from the Lightwell totem would receive a 10-15% increase in healing from healers in the group? Make the duration shorter and adjust the CD accordingly, but it would be a thought. Or maybe tie it in with the Spirit Guardian (I think that's the spell name!?) where you put it on one target and they receive a healing received buff and instead have an AoE Lightwell totem?

Either way, I too have issues with getting even my own guild members to click on it. Pretty much anything that takes away their attention from DPSing = a no go.

if you cant make your dps click lightwell in a situation when it it possitioned on a groupping-up place and easily accessable to everyone, what will be next qq topic, fire?
"dps in my raid are too busy dpsing to move from fire, so can you remove all the fire (and other dangerous area effects) from encounters?" ^^

Haha, good point. It is quite sad, really. I have an 80 warrior tank, which was my main before I rolled a priest for fun and fell in love with it, but I always remember the lightwells being out near me during encounters and I would tank the boss (if possible) close to the LW so I could click it during my rotation and button mashing.

I am a Holy Priest and before every fight even in a heroic I tell the group about light well. If players aren't using it then its there own fault and should be punched in the baby maker.

IMO just make it easier to spot. It may be my poor graphics card but when theres alot of aoe or spell particles and the lightwell is close to or underneath the boss (maybe the boss has been kited ontop of it) i have a super hard time spotting it to click it.

I would suggest they make it more visable, maybe have an effect like the new (skull) (cross) (square) etc icons, which the RL can place anywhere and has a circlular glow.

That being said, can you make a /tar macro that also clicks on it? Guess that'd make things too easy.
