    Tanking and "In Progress" runs.

I would like to hear opinions from preferably tanks, but others can let their harts out aswell

I have my Deathknight at level 85 not so long after my Shaman was.
I'm a tank and always will be. And while tanking I overtime noticed something interesting concerning the LFD-tool.
As a tank it's a fact that your "Random Heroic"-queue has an average of 0.83 seconds. Now the thing is that you come across a lot of "In Progress" runs.
Now I've experienced that I can get 5 minute Random Heroics out of this, so if you want a quick amount of Valor Points, this is in fact thé fastest way to do your Daily. This by leaving and joining the queue till an "In Progress" run pops up.

As for me now, I've been doing my daily this way ever since. It usually takes around 2 minutes before I come across an "In Progress" run, but sometimes it is instantly. Doing this while watching TV or doing a JC-Daily or what ever, will make my time even productive whilest making my Daily Heroic shorter.
And yes, I'm a very social person, I like to play with other people; if they just are nice, play decent and don't fuck about. Sadly this is not the case 90% of the time, which makes me waste my time.
And yes, I can clearly say that I'm a very good tank, it's my alt, but I'm very skilled in tanking aswell, if the dps/healer die due to AoE dmg 8 out of 10 times I can solo the boss still. I always get a lot of compliments when finished, or during the process of a heroic.

So now my question for you tanks is:
Do you do this aswell? Would you do this?
(Proper tanks only, as I don't like tanks in semi dps gear, greenies and other kinds of shit )

    For the lovely fewers:
What do you think of this?
(Please I don't want a flamewar, if you're not suited with this, please say so and give a nice explanation why)

    /The Situation

You do know that an "In Progress" run is a run which has atleast 1 boss down?

Why would you not want to do in progress runs?
The only drawback is that you get locked out of picking that dungeon again manually in case you needed gear from another boss.

Well, you're gambling with the fact that the group actually lost a tank. Either the tank sucked, or the group is horrible.

    My first line is rhetorical.
I fully agree with you and don't expect any tank not to.

I do this as a healer a lot. Love getting a group with only 1 trash pack and the last boss left.

In my BG I had like 6-7min que as healer, doesnt really work. Would've done a full run already in the time it took to skip 3 groups ;l

I have done this when i just want a quick run its worked out well most times to be fair but theres been a few times when it has been very very clear why the tank has left

The amount of times I've zoned in to be staring at the last boss far outweighs the times I've zoned into people wiping on the first trash pack.

So that's why yesterday when queuing for dungeon on my dps char invite window popped 6 times with tank rejecting until we found tank that would accept...
I have enough of EA ruining great franchises and studios, forcing DRM and Origin on their games, releasing incomplete games only to sell day-1 DLCs or spill dozens of DLCs, and then saying it, and microtransactions, is what players want, stopping players from giving EA games poor reviews, as well as deflecting complaints with cheap PR tricks.

I'm not going to buy any game by EA as long as they continue those practices.

I usually do the same on my tank, and have been doing it whenever I had to pug the daily random since I got geared from heroics.

LFD is already enough of a gamble without purposely seeking out in-progress runs where there's a high chance the group was failing and pitting my tank against the odds.

Good thing I have a random guildy queue as tank and leave. We pick up people who do this crap and make them suffer for it.

Yes this indeed happened to me aswell, but often I come in a group that is decent enough to continue and the heroic will still take a max of 10 minutes. And to be honest it's come to a point, I just leave if only first boss is cleared if I just see ONE tiny bit that frustrates me, as I just have to wait 15 minutes for the cooldown and I can go on my shaman to do some dailies or what ever instead Or go with my mates on my shaman for a heroic.

You do know that an "In Progress" run is a run which has atleast 1 boss down? Not a queue boost where the tank boosts his guildie and leaves, BTW I'm selling queue boosts on my DK, so if you're from my server contact me and for a nice 500g I'll spare you 40 minutes!

Dont see why undergeared tanks shouldnt reply, a tanks a tank.

At this point in time its okay to do i guess, its not too much of a dick move cause theyll get a replacement tank almost immediately.

As healer, in the last few weeks, alsso seem to have got more and more "in progress" dungeons.

I also noticed something else - that made me quit the game - a helluva LOT more obnoxious, impatient jerks.

The last night before I cancelled my WoW Subs was eight times in a row into "in progress" runs. All eight groups were incredibly obnoxious - even before I said "Hi!" Every group, I left after some immediate derisive comment like "Don't f--king die Healer" and similar. I would've gone the guild run route, but my times were erratic.
There was no call for these comments. Both sets of my gear is gemmed, enchanted and about i351 or so and I always had ample mana pots and stat food buff.

No greeting, just this verbal gurgle. I left each group and farmed for a bit and then queued again. WoW community seems to have gone south. As for tanking, I didn't bother tanking anymore.

My hat off to you for: How you put up with "go.go.go Tank!", dps hitting skull, breaking cc, people in greens, unsocketted, unenchanted blues who respond: "I don't enchant or gem, non-epics" and then do 5k or less dps, I have no idea. This has been a pattern which made an otherwise fun game most unenjoyable. Personally, I preferred the old model of no LFD. Maybe it's just the EU, I don't know, but jeeeeez, the community sucks now. Seems to have got worse and worse every expansion. Vanilla & TBC were my favourite.

I usually did the same as you, watch TV, farm and queue. If it was deadmines, I usually left after 1st boss - it's still too damn long. I love that the bosses are a bit more challenging than WotLK (not TBC), but faaar too damn long. I realize this leaving isn't nice, but I really hated the dungeon. I always politely excused myself. Far too damn long.

Yes, I quit - and for the flamers? Why am I still here on these forums? Best place to find out about new games & mmo's. Keen interest in reports on Rift.

Personally, as a healer, I *hate* tanks who do this. From my end, it's 50+ "Your group is ready"-messages, instantly declined or timed out by the tank when I'm trying to start a new dungeon. I actually wish that declining a dungeon would put you on a few seconds dungeon cooldown, increased in time when you repeat it. Yes. It's *that* annoying.

I usually accept in-progress runs myself though, at the odd chance that the healer was undergeared or had a disconnect.

Mate I TOTALLY understand you, I have the exact same shit going on, tho I just ignore most of them, and just continue, but yes if things get to retarded like you pointed out lovely a few times, yes then I politly say gbai aswell. This is the exact reason I'm doing this. Some dungeons are to damn long, people are to retarded which makes a dungeon twice as long.

I wonder - is there no possibility to remove some heroics from random pool by prolonging their IDs? I mean, in raid window where you can check IDs of saved and expired raids / heroics there is option to extend lockout. If you extended lockout period of your last deadmines run wouldn't it make you saved to it, therefore disallowing you to join it anymore?

Randoms ignore lockout, however lockouts are not always picked over unlocked.
