Can one not play on rift BETA till an event is opened up?

Can I not play on rift BETA until there is an event? I have a BETA key and just installed the game but when I go to log in to the game I have no available servers on the list to choose from...

I believe that is the case, they usually have very specific days for the events and when they are over access is denied.

The servers will open up this Tuesday on the 25th. You can pre-download the client by clicking the download link next to where it says you were invited to the beta.

It says the event will last Tuesday - Friday.

There's a schedule of events on the website. Probably after all of them have ended they'll just make it continuous until launch

He's right though, the installer/E-Mail even tells you about the Beta and what's going to happen.

The RIFT beta continues this week with the next beta event, Battle of the Ascended, which is set to begin Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 at 10:00 AM PST (18:00 GMT) and run through 10:00 AM PST (18:00 GMT) on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011..

The only scheduled thing that will be continual till launch is the headstart of a couple days you get if you preorder the game
