[TV Show] Spartacus: gods of the arena (spoilers) (and many misspelled names)

So who's watching this? What do you think so far?

Being a prequel most of the interest here is in finding out how things come to be at the beginning of Blood and Sand. So far I like it a lot after 2 episodes. It seems theres only 6 in all which is a shame.

I didn't expect Onomaus to kill the old Doctorea, I figured he would die protecting Batiatus, but that was pretty wild. And I like the way people are acting quite differently from B&S. Batiatus doesn't quite have his cold confidence yet, Onomaus is unusually happy (probably because he still has a wife I presume, he doesn't in B&S).

So now we wait and see what happens to Onomaus' wife & Gannicus. could it be a coincidence that they just had sex?? hmm. And I also can't wait for Crixus to bust Ashur's knee!

Gaia is pretty amazing wow, apprently she was/is on Dexter, haven't watched that yet, but I might now.

And what the hell was with all the B&S spoilers in the 1st 5 min of episode 1? That was unnecessary and would ruin it for anyone who hasn't watched season 1 yet.

Its a great show. Spartacus: Blood and Sand was probably my favorite show last year. Some of the episodes were just brilliant. I just wish it didn't have to show so much soft-core porn, but thats kinda expected for a subscription channel show.

Episode 2 of Gods of the Arena definitely ranks up with the best blood and sand episodes with how much drama there was. Really great acting in it. I'm wondering if we'll see Varro at all in GOTA

Varro was definitely my favorite character after spartacus of course.

Not sure if you know this already but the reason they did a prequel instead of a follow up season was that Andy Whitfield (Spartacus) has cancer (non hodgkins lymphoma) it didn't go away with initial treatment so he basically called it quits. They tried casting replacements but they didn't like them and they didn't want to do injustice to Andy who played the part so well.

As for the prequel its pretty good. The backstories are interesting and you can already see Crixus learning fast. My one gripe, given what happened to Batiatus at the end of the first episode and what he does in the second... why didn't he do that from the beginning to all of his enemies if he can do that and get away with it so easily ??? lol... fail on the writers

yeah damn shame about Andy's cancer. Scary to think he's my age. I sure hope he pulls through OK, seems like a hell of a nice guy from the interviews I saw, and it will also be weird to have a different actor playing Spartacus.

Yeah Varro is a great character too, its been a while since I saw the 1st few episodes, from what I remember he was also a newb in the house with Spartacus. It would be interesting to have him pop in as a cameo with his family during his pre-gladiator days for sure.

I was really looking forward to seeing Andy reprise his role of Sparticus, but here's to hoping that it all works out for him and the show. I'm really liking how the writers are handling the characters. I'm especially liking Gannicus, but wondering how Crixus is going to end up top gladiator in the ludus. And as for season 2, I'm wondering where it goes from there. I mean Sparticus killed them all.

On a side note who's your favorite "top" gladiator. I like Sparticus, Gannicus, Crixus, in that order.
