does having the -d3d11 on the LAUNCHER work, really? have you tried the macro posted here to see? I have never heard of having it set on launcher ever before. Rather wow.exe.

it works fine....and i had to use it as the config file kept deleting the added line , even though i have a gtx 560

How hot would be too hot?

Just tell what it reports as maximum temperatures of all processor cores and graphics card, in Celsius. Or take a screen capture.

Normal numbers for your computer should be around 45-50C for processor and 60-70C for graphics card.

You said you were cleaning/scanning your PC and got a new OS. Did you upgrade or did a clean install? I'd go for a clean install and see how it goes.
