    Incoming Purification Buff

WoW forums just went down due to heavy traffic but less than 10 minutes before it happened, there was a blue post in the healing sub-forum. It stated an incoming buff to Purification from 10% to 25%. I apologise for not being able to provide proof but I promise it's there.

It was also stated that they acknowledge our lack of cooldowns and it is something they are thinking about. They stated that it's not something they can just hotfix in so it would occur in a later patch.

    Rejoice.

EDIT: Thank you to Radux for sneakily finding the post and adding it to his post Now really, rejoice =P

Cannot find this blue post as of this second using the blue tracker. Will update if it's true or not.

Update! (screw it I'm linking the entire thing)

The cost of Power Word: Shield is being increased by 33%. While we wanted Discipline priests to be able to utilize this spell more often and with better results, we also did not want it to be the main spell (and often the only spell) used while in groups. We don’t find this to be a particularly compelling playstyle and have found that it encourages players to avoid using other spells such as Penance. We believe that using a shield in a tight moment is totally appropriate, but we don’t want it to be incredibly efficient to do so with more frequency than that.

We realize that by making Power Word: Shield slightly more expensive for Discipline priests to cast that it might cause Holy priests to avoid using it. To that end, we are adding mana savings into the Body and Soul talent. The tooltip will not reflect this change until a future patch, however. Ideally, Holy priests should not notice much of a change to the Power Word: Shield costs.

    Shaman

We are also applying a hotfix for Purification for the Restoration shaman passive from 10% to 25%. We think that shaman healing per second is not as competitive with other healers and while we hoped to bring down Holy priest and Holy paladins (in particular) in 4.0.6, which we did, shaman still appear to be behind. In this case, it is simply easier to buff Restoration shaman rather than nerf everyone else or rebalance the encounters.

In Addition- Restoration Druids and Restoration Shaman

We agree with the sentiment among some players that Restoration druids and Restoration shaman are lacking in the healing cooldown department. The shaman buff and Power Word: Shield adjustment above should bring all healers reasonably close in terms of throughput. The decision on who to bring then might end up being dictated by the strong cooldowns offered by paladins or priests. This isn’t the kind of thing we can address via a hotfix, but it is something we are looking at for the next major content patch.

As always, we appreciate your continued constructive feedback and will do our best to keep you informed of ongoing developments.

I'm happy about it for my poor little shammy alt. Her healing always felt really weak to me - glad I'm not the only one who felt that way.

The real question is WHEN will this hotfix happen? WTB NOAZ!

=D I'm pretty happy, 15% buff is huge.

How long has it taken for them to realise that cooldowns are important and Shamans lack them? Better late than never but jeez.. come on guys.

The purification buff reeks of laziness but I cant really complain.

And yet you are... come on now guy. This is just what we needed. Does it fix everything? No, but it gives us exactly what we have been asking for, to be competitive in the HPS department.

They can't hotfix in new spells, so I'm not sure what else you expected besides number tweaks.

The beauty of buffing purification, though, is that it affects ALL of our healing spells. Instead of tweaking specific spells to marginalize our healing "deficit," which... if the past is any indication... often results in over-buffing and subsequent nerfs, this should, hopefully, ensure that nothing of ours becomes too powerful relatively (thus sparing us any heart-wrenching nerfs in the future).

Of course, this is all speculation on my part, but I think this is a the right kind of buff. I agree that we do need a cooldown very badly, but it's a step in the right direction... for now.

This change is awesome. Although I still wouldn't mind some coefficient tweaks... hint hint Blizzard.

It's about time. Next content patch isn't anywhere close though, but I'm glad they finally acknowledged that Nature's Swiftness lost its edge with all the changes Cataclysm brought to the game.

Yikes, this is a pretty major change for us. I was already feeling pretty comfy with the 4.0.6 changes but now I'm feeling pretty beefy (and that's saying a lot for a non-Tauren).

Question: When they say they are 'applying a hotfix', does that mean it's being applied ASAP, or it will be applied at some date in the future?

Chances are that it will happen on a Tuesday during maintenance or something.

We anticipate having these in relatively soon (possibly as soon as sometime today). We'll do our best to let you know once they're in and we'll be updating the notes on the Hotfix thread as well.
    Very happy Shaman here.

Before people start throwing the "15% buff" term around, remember that isn't remotely how healing modifiers work.

    It's much different than that.

I dunno about that. They hotfix talent specialization passives all the time on non-Tuesdays.

It'll probably happen later today or tomorrow at the latest.

    SWEET!

We raid Tues/Thurs/Sunday so I might get that buff before my next raid! Thursday is our main progression day (tues farm, sun clean up) so it would be pretty nice to have that.
