Angry Engineering...Just When I Thought It Couldnt Get Any Worse!!

First off I would like to say I have been an Engineer since TBC, and for the most part I am ok with and I understand it isnt a BIG money maker. I used it mainly for PvP(nerfed to the ground now) and some PvE. In TBC and WOTLK it was nice to get a few primals from gas clouds. So now in Cata I make me the lovely Electrostatic Condenser ( http://www.wowhead.com/spell=95703 ), and find out that they have taken Cata gas clouds out, and now you get any benefit from this you must be a herber, miner, skiner( I am not either one)............ Really?!? I mean WTF!?!?!?!??!?!? Yes I know minning and engineering go hand in hand, but I have alts that mine for me.

It gets better..... In TBC and WOTLK you could make the epic helm and wear it at level 62/72 ........oh hell no......not in Cata you have to have a Chaos Orb ( http://www.wowhead.com/item=52078). Yeah you know the BoP, only drops in heroics thing?? So not only can you not make it as soon as you hit 85, but you have to run heroics and get lucky with the drop.

Did anyone else wanna rage quit engineering or was it just me? I dont get on here and QQ much but this really might make me rage quit the damn profession. Anyone else feel the same?

Some dumb moves over time with this profession by Blizzard? Yeah (but you can probably find something weird in all of them).

Rage quit? Hell no. I give up my helicopter and wormhole generators for NO ONE.

If you think that hurts....don't ever re-level eng now on an alt...it's been streamlined so much, you will weep when you think back to the painful grind it was to lvl when you did.
But yes, there are a few things that bug me, the Electrostatic condenser is one, cogs not being used in any prismatic socket is another, lvl as well as eng lvl requirments to use some items you can make suck, as do bop orbs.
Also the mats needed to trade for cog wheels are so uneven, this cog is 4 handfuls of bolts, this one is a goblin bbq...so if you use one, cheap-ass woot! If you use the other cog, damn, get farming

My favourite part is where you say it is completely unfair that you need to do at least 1 heroic in order to get a Tier 11 quality helm.
I shall die here. Every inch of me shall perish. Every inch, but one. An inch. It is small and it is fragile and it is the only thing in the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away. We must never let them take it from us.

When you feel that rage and feeling of unfairness building up, just close your eyes, take a deep breath, and remind yourself that it's just a game.

I'm keeping engineering because the tinkers are very good.

My engineer is a LW/Eng so I can relate to the whole concept of not being able to collect from gas clouds. However I wasn't an eng. during TBC and for most of wrath so I can't really say I know what it's like to LOSE the ability... but I'll still pretend to give a damn!

The only thing that really would make me want to quit is the malfunctioning nitro-boosts. I really don't understand why there's still a chance for them to fail in instances/dungeons. As a healer I really have to be careful when to use them (pretty much between trash pulls because its too risky to use it when it would be more useful.

I got lucky and got a few orbs right when I hit 85. A lot of professions got the "chaos orb nerf" in a way. Things aren't them same as TBC/WotLK, get used to it.

Bosses in Heroics dropped epics in The Burning Crusade and Wrath. They don't now, so clearly things change.

Also, the Engineering goggles in The Burning Crusade required a Primal Nether, which was Bind on Pickup at the start of the expansion and...yes, were only a guaranteed drop from the last boss in a Heroic. They did have a 5% chance or so to drop in a normal mode instance though.

It's only a matter of time before a new 5 man with epics come out and the Chaos Orbs are BOE.

A great glove tinker that beats out other profession bonuses for my mage and a helm that I got before I ever started raiding and has still lasted me into heroic modes? Yeah, that's terrible, just terrible. You are really complaining that you have to run a couple heroics to craft your helm? That's ridiculous. Especially with all the fun stuff you get to play with as well like jeeves, nitro boosts, wormhole generator, helicopter, etc etc. Damn, I wish I'd done enchanting instead so I could enchant my rings and ... umm ... hmm.

At which point the complaint about us having to do a heroic to get your tier 11 level helm will be completely moot since you can just buy the Orb from the Auction House.

More like the complaint would be mute because instances now give VP and t12 can be obtained with the new Raid reward points.

Just you. I have 2 pairs of goggles and the epic chests and belts from leather working that I made. It's not hard to get gear and get to HCs and get chaos orbs. I was relieved actually that it only takes 1 when you compare it to what other things cost to make.

You would still need to be running heroics in order to buy Tier 12 though, you could run normal modes and get Justice Points to buy tier 11 from the Vendor though. So you have a choice between the tier 11 helm or using those points for another tier piece and getting a helm which lets you pick exactly what stats you want.

So you crafted the item without bothering to read the text on it that explains what it does? It's pretty darn clear. You not bothering to look at what you're crafting does not mean Engineering is broken.

The WotLK goggles required a Frost Orb. The TBC goggles required a Primal Nether. Both were BoP at the start of their respective expansions, exactly like Chaos Orbs are right now. The current situation is EXACTLY the same as it has been with every expansion's launch.

I love my Engineering. If you're going to rage quit a profession because A> you didn't actually look at what you were crafting and B> you don't know how prior expansions worked with regards to crafting mats, then go nuts. You're only hurting yourself, and what's worse, you're not learning the lesson that you should be learning from all of this.

The Goblin BBQ goes for like 15g on my realm, which is cheaper as 4 Bolts, if you need a Gob BBQ, just get one off AH?

I would like to see the helmets scale with content somehow. In BC they had one you can obtain through heroics and then later on in Sunwell, but in wotlk we only had one. It'd be cool if we can just farm a number of engineer parts and then turn them into a trainer for an upgraded helm or something.

hey at least eng crafted item is a BiS for just about every spec in game until heroic raiding.

but yeah its about the only thing eng is worth lol

I honestly think people are blowing the rocket boost thing out of preportion...

Granted, I wish they were still on my boots (and my MC helm on my head), but it's not as bad as people make it out to be.

Either that, or I must be a lucky SoB, because my boots only explode on me like...once-twice a day. And I spam those things almost every CD.
