Yep, the experience bar in EverQuest was originally a tiny little bar comprised of 5 "bubbles." The slow rate at which you gained experience made earning a bubble of experience (20% of a level if you can't do math) a big deal. You would also judge your rate of experience gain by bubble/# of hours. *shudder*

I hate everyone and everything that calls the Paladin class a pally.
Like half the words people are griping about in here, "Pally" loooooong predates WoW as the shortened version of Paladin. Not sure who to send you after to bitch slap for that one, but you'll probably need a time machine.

"(insert adjective here)(noun) is (former adjective inserted again)"

    bad troll is bad
    mad tank is mad
    stupid player is stupid

I despise this type of saying. It's just.... beyond stating the obvious. Think about it in real terms. What if every time you were speaking to someone... they just way overstated the obvious? It would annoy 90% of you, and this is an example of it.

    Example phone call/conversation:

GF/BF/Parent: "Hey hon, how was work today?"
You: "Boring work is boring, I had to do work there, like... move stuff and write things... ..."
GF/BF/Parent: "Well, money is how you buy things. Good money is good, and it's earned by hard work being hard."
You: "Hard work is hard, but what really gets me is my jerk boss is a jerk."
GF/BF/Parent: "Well dear, upset person is upset so I am going to make dinner and let you blow off some steam. Do you want chicken or beef tonight? You know what they say: Delicious chicken is delicious!"
You: "Yeah, mad me is mad, so I want to tear into some steak. Tough beef is tough, after all, and I need to get out some aggression so mad me isn't mad in the morning."
GF/BF/Parent: "Okay hon, you just sit and watch TV, Two and a Half Men has a new episode! And oh my, funny guy is FUNNY!"

    /sigh

How stupid does that seem? Just how I feel anyways.

Wow... I can't believe so many people are bothered by "bio"...
Even if it DID mean they went to the bathroom, WHO CARES?

We say when we're going to the bathroom when we're in a raid just so we know it wont take long for them to return.
Nothing worse than someone saying "brb" and then they go to the store, do groceries, go back home, cook dinner, eat said dinner, do the dishes, watch an ep of House and then to come back. Yes... this happened once >_>

    'U mad bro'

    makes me mad. ironically

I'm sure it's been posted already but "please PST"

Being that PST means Please send tell, you effectively just said Please please send tell...

Bio- Just say you need to pee. No one cares, and if they DO care, think of it this way, you're never going to see that person in real life anyway, so who cares?

Mob- I hold so much contempt for this work. When I started out playing MMOs, I started with Guild Wars and you called an enemy an enemy, not a "mob." A "mob" is what you called a MOB of enemies.
mob comes from...i think from muds (text based rpg), at least that's the first time I heard it. It refers to a game object that is mobile....

if someone calls monsters "mobs" then they aren't stupid, they are just older than you and have been playing video games for at least 15-20 years.

Yes, this is correct. It doesn't have to do with misusing a plural term on a singular object,it's short for "mobile."

A couple I'd have to go with would be:

"Pala" for "Paladin". I'm sorry, it just sounds really really awkward to me. Paladin or Pally just sounds so much more natural to me.

and "Retri". Again, very awkward, isn't "Ret" just easier?

Oh and to the people talking about the Druid variations (drood, durid, etc.)... I only use them on occasion... Durid because Alamo = indeterminable amounts of win and Drood because of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zm63Gmaxlho . But never in normal conversation, just when I'm either referencing one of them, or just being silly.

"archivement" instead "achievement" on LA servers.

Am I the only one who hates the word "twink"? I have no idea how it came to be applied to a geared to the teeth low level pvp character, but in the US (and maybe other parts of the world?) it's a term used within the gay community referring to a specific type of body build. Every single time I hear it, a little voice in the back of my head shouts "GAY PORN!". I so hate that word.

    Also:
    plox
    overuse of lol
    rouge
and everyone who calls hunter melee range the "dead zone"... you're an idiot, shut up.
    - The Hunter's Creed -
"This is my pet. There are many others like him, but this one is mine. He is my best friend. He is my life. I must master him as I master my life.
My pet, without me, is useless. Without my pet, I am useless."

not just in wow, but anything ending in "zor" where that isn't part of the word in question

  16. #336
Wraith Baby... hate the term and have yet to see a person use it and not sound like a grade A D-Bag..

  17. #337
    "Fanboy"
    "Baddie"

People using these words often are one themselves.

  18. #338
plox, vanilla, "troll"(trade chat term), UMADBRAH, baddie (only because the ones using the term are usually the baddies, same applies to fail or noob), people who answer "y" instead of "yes" because I used to think they were asking "Why".
Oh yeah. .. "Cool Story". UGH

As it were, I embrace every form of 1337, short-hand, derp, herp, meme... etc. WoW-related or otherwise (because a good chunk of the grievances in this thread are over things that existed before/didn't originate from WoW.)

The ones that really get me?

    TB!!=Tuberculosis! ew!!

and referring to someone in a pug by the name of their class, that's rude yo! (i.e. hay mage u fail...)
I like to put a little personal touch to it myself (i.e. YO! saucy magebaby! bequeath unto me some righteous cakes! POST HASTE!)
