We got most of the trip figured out, but we'll do some stuff on a whim. I've been in the US before, in 2000 when I was like 12 years. Without a shadow of doubt, the best country in the world, unless you're poor... Visited New Jersey, New York and several places and cities in California, had a great time.

Anyhow, on our travelling route we'll try to cover and visit as much as we can. We start off in Seattle, then probably fly to San Fran and travel down the coast to either LA or San Diego. Obviously we're stopping in Las Vegas, one of my friends really like playing poker and has saved up about 3k US dollars to "waste" on gambling. From there on and out we'll rent a car and drive towards the east coast.

I'd really like to see much of the southern states, because they aren't really the first place tourists go to when travelling to the states. It'll be interesting to go there I think, I don't know that much about how it really is there, although I'm more knowledgeable about America then the average norwegian.

Our final destination will be New York. (Greatest city in the world?)

We'll be staying mostly with relatives or folks that know our families somehow, which is great, and renting a car, food and other necessities are so cheap over there compared to Norway. (we have high salaries but 35-45% tax is normal, and cost of food etc is high)

I've got 2 definite goals for the trip: 1) Eat fresh Dunkin Donuts as often as possible (they are divine, dreamt of them for 11 years, and no I'm not fat)
    2) Have sex with an african-american girl, which I imagine in my head will be super hot

So, since most readers here are American, I wondered if you got any tips? What to see, what to do (what to avoid/watch out for). Happenings, festivals or such for example.
And hey, if anyone wants a visit from 3 good looking norwegian fellas, I'm sure we'll take you up on it. You are all harmless, right?

TL;DR America, 3 months, what do.
Spend as little as time as possible on the East Coast, i.e., avoid NY New Jersey Maine rhode island and the Carolinas etc. The only exception is Florida- spend a lot of time there. The American south is nice, but not much there for visitors. Move on to Texas. It has the most variegation of any state in the country, you'll want to spend as much time there as possible. It's easily the best place in this country to visit.

I'd spend most of the rest of the trip in the West- Utah, Montana, New Mexico, Arizona, Kansas, Idaho, Nebraska, Colorado, Nevada, and the Dakotas and when you get to Cali, only stay in LA. The rest of that state is a cesspool, and will eat up all your money.

If I didn't mention a state, it's probably going to be best to avoid it. Under no circumstances should you go to Louisiana. It's a crime ridden state, you'll probably be pulled over by the state police for something you didn't do, and it stinks. Of garbage. Seeped in shit. Stewed in pig slop.

in america, money solves all problems

and why does every post have a food recommendation? no wonder the rest of the world thinks we're all fat.. all we can suggest to tourists is where to eat?

suggesting food places =/= fat. every culture enjoys food to an extent.

Don't get me wrong, I like pizza, burgers and steaks, it's just that pizza and burgers are generally considered Junk food in europe...
You're both extremely ignorant if that's what you think the American diet consists of.

Go up to DC, tons to do there. If you're feeling adventurous, go to Baltimore. Tickets for an O's game are cheap ($5 for nosebleeds), only downside is you can literally make one wrong turn and end up on The Wire. Other things in Baltimore include the American Visonary Arts Muesum, the National Aquarium, Fort McHenry (was used in the war of 1812, held off the brits, inspired FSK to write our national anthem). You can go to Annapolis, it's close to DC/Baltimore, and much safer. Get blue crabs while in Maryland, bunch of good places to choose from, just have someone show you how to eat 'em.

Just don't speak to give away that you're foreign. At least you're white, so you've got that going for you in texas.

Go to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and eat phillie cheese steaks.
    You won't soon forget them.

Then he won't have the right to go to casino's in Las Vegas either :/, and pretty much anywhere where you can buy drinks with more than 15% of alcohol.
