Rare Hunter Pets

I am curious as to some of the unique names hunters have come up with for their rare spawn pets.

My Sambas is called: Norman
My Spirit Wolf is called: Jonathon
My Volcanic Turtle thing is called: Phillip

I named my Sambas Scirocco, which basically means "Desert wind' In itallian.

Not really unique names. I named a few after pokemon. Skoll was Luxray. Loque Meowth. Arcturis Teddiursa. Saw another hunter with a Magikarp as well. I retamed them to what I used to do when I would just name them after their untamed selves.

Terrorpene: tamed it about 2 days ago while checking on lava pools to fish me some fire. Funny thing is, having not named it yet, and to aliviate a little tension in the room with my not-wow-friendly mom I asked her what should I name my new turtle pet and she instantly said Shakira. Chuckling I comment it to a friend in my guild and to my surprise he says it fits for some reason. Now I open mmo-champ's home page and see this thread and someone else has named his pet Shakira too...
I still don't understand but I guess I'll go along with everyone and name it that ^.^

Loque: Sushi

Those are the only rares I ever cared to farm, but the rest of my pets follow the same naming conventions

Actually, it's not. The arabic word that Shirocco/Sirocco is derived from is sharq (or shoruq, sharqi, sharaqa, all words meaning in some way "east"). And considering the Italians have had it since at least the early 17th century, even if they were borrowing it I don't think they have to return it anymore.

As for the original topic, I always keep the names of the rare creatures. Makes it easier to remember if someone asks me.

My beetle is named "Ringo" tho.
