You have to realize there is a double standard when it comes to PvP: one for the developers' pet classes, and one for everyone else. Mages obviously fall into the first category, hence why they get multiple talents and abilities on short cooldowns that would be considered OP if another class had only one of them on a 3 minute cooldown. It's the reason frost mages get all their snares, roots, that none of them share a CD, that they don't have to worry about being interrupted, that they have one of the best interrupts in the game themselves, they get a pet, they get mirror images, they get all manner of shields, they have insane burst, and just when you think you've had it all, they use cold snap and start all over again.

PvP in this game is a complete joke.

No offense mate, but mages atm are having a lot of trouble with staying alive against melee cleaves. Nerfing them now would be stupid.

ahhh arena, what originally ruined my double ice block in the first place will now take double ring of frost, fucking gj blizz (I don't pvp anymore, mostly pve)

Ummmmmm who doesn't have trouble staying alive vs melee cleaves? Mages however have PLENTY of tools to survive. Let's see here : Ice block? Check. Frost Nova? Check. Ring of frost? Check. Pet Frost Nova? Check. Blink? Check. Shattered Barrier that doesn't share diminishing returns with Frost Nova? Check. Frost Armor? Check. Perma Frost which makes all Melee walk around like turtles? Check. I won't even get into Deep Freeze and losing 50% of my life during the duration with 3500 resil and magic resist aura.

Mages are perhaps THE MOST TRAINED class in arena atm. because they are easy to train when dispelled.

guess you never played a priest before? with no silences, interrupts, stuns, slows, snares... and only 1 fear on a 33sec CD that breaks on the first point of damage? talk about squichy.

what he said. and don't forget polymorph, ever been polymorfed for half a minute? i have and it's bloody annoying, nothing i could do tho, trinket on second one and they just reapply over and over again.

i'm glad that the developers finally balanced frost mage pvp. it's the first season with shatter being useful, thanks to the new resilince calculation.
there were times when a critical hit did only 20% more damage than a normal hit.

it took two expansions to get that fixed. i think the next two expansions frostmage should be op, so that we can take revenge.

Wrong on so many levels. Personally, I still go for priests first, much better to do that.

Drop the perhaps, they are the most trained class in arena. If there is a mage in the opposing you train him. Shatter barrier is getting hard nerfed next patch(if they havn't pulled the plug on that change), absolutly nothing els should be nerfed. ALL mages defense is dispellable including their shields. They got no passive damage mitgation unlike warlocks for example(soul link), there is a reason for why they got blink, they take such a hench fucking beating when caught in a stun.

As a sub rogue I don't have much trouble with mages. As a resto druid I can pretty much /lol at them, they don't get me below 50%.

Frost mages are OP in 1v1 sitations and 2s and at low-medium high ratings. They are pretty balanced in 3v3. 5v5 I got no idea, that bracket has never interested me.

Those that QQ obviously don't play frost mage and get killed by "LOLOLWTFICELANCEHERPDERP". If you are one of these people, don't make threads like this.

If you are stupid enough to get caught in a ring of frost 2x in a row, you damn we deserve to stay in it.

Mages ARE the most trainable target in arena (obviously when talking about viable specs/classes). Fact.

Dispel? Check. Dispel? Check. Dispel? Check. You have no idea what you are talking about? Check. Dispel? Check. Dispel? Check. Dispel? Check. Train train train train train train choo choo? All day long, all night long, Check!

But hey, at least you have someone, who was sheeped for 30sec after trinketing the second sheep, agreeing with you.

I'd argue that Priests and Warlocks have it worse, because they don't have to be dispelled offensively to be trained

Take it you've never seen or played a moonkin in arenas.

Lol anyone who is still qqing about mages obviously doesn't know how to pvp. zomg coldsnap OP man RoF x2. Oh yeah... don't walk into it moron. Problem solved. And for those of you that don't think cold snap is necessary, I highly suggest you go play a mage at 85 and try to stay alive in arena with 1 ice block.

Yet both have better passive damage reduction that can't be dispelled. Once Ice Barrier is gone, what does the Mage have to lower incoming damage while being focused?

If you remove Cold Snap, take out Preparation, Glyph of Preparation, and Readiness while you're at it.

Moonkins don't get trained that hard seeing as how they have over 55% dmg reduction. Mainly just interrupted a lot.

    Not every class can dispel.

    ---------- Post added 2011-03-15 at 12:40 AM ----------

It's hard to avoid it when you are frozen in place for it to go off anyway, it is an annoying thing, it's like a rogues stun lock.

Make it so all mage snares share a diminishing return just like rogue stuns now do, it's far to have SOME opening for someone who can't dispel and avoid everything all the time.
