    Most profitable alchemy mastery?

In your experiences in this expansion, what is the most profitable alchemy mastery?

Since I won't be able to raid for a while since I'm deployed, I want my mastery to make me the most money it can. I understand the unpredictable nature of it, I just want some opinions.

I've always liked transmute. Right now I'm transmuting oodles of volatile life I have on hand, and profiting. Moreso from the extra procs.

I have an elixir alch just to make raiding nicer, but I'll never give up my transmute. Transmute specialists are going to be even more in demand once Cata epic gems come out (if they come out).

It all depends on luck. You could get a proc with most flasks with Elixir or you could only get one proc every thirty to fifty Elixirs (that was my Wrath luck, haven't leveled my Alchemist).

Most people have the best luck with Transmutation, however.

I'd go with transmute if you don't have a lot of playtime, that way you only have to worry about a single daily cooldown.

The value of elixir and potion spec go up if you're investing more time into it (watching AH trends and posting flasks/potions at the appropriate times) but transmute values stay much more consistent from my experience. I like just transmuting volatile life into other valuable volatiles.

I prefer transmute for making gold. I am inscription-alchemy and I do not have an herb gatherer (yet), so I spend the 150gold to switch to Elixir to make my raiding potions when I have enough herbs built up to make it worthwhile. Afterwards, it's 150g switching back to transmute.

Transmute. Elixir and potion are both pretty useless. If you've got herb and elixir alchemy, you're still usually better off just selling the herbs.

What I like to do is stay transmute spec most of the time, while watching ah for cheap herbs/mats. Over time I build up a pretty big stock, then when I am ready and/or flask prices are high, I go switch specs to elixir (costs 150g), make a ton of flasks, using up all my mats, then switch back to transmute (another 150g). If you do this in large quantities you can easily pay for the 300g in respec costs using the flask procs, and then just sell them on the ah over time whenever prices are high.

Transmute, flasks are in less demand now because of an abundant of flask makers out there, plus guild cauldrons as well and potions are pretty cheap. Out of the 3 I would never take potions though, I prefer my Transmute cause it helps support characters for gems.

I prefer xmute mastery. I don't want to keep making pots/flasks and undercut people all day long, so once a day to transmute is the way to go.

Yeah the only reason I bother switching to elixir to make a bunch of flasks is because my guild still needs to unlock the guild cauldron, so yeah :P. I think there are still a lot of smallish guilds that dont have it, which can lead to alchemists continuing to mass produce flasks, which is probably part of the cause of the low prices. Last night on my server I looked and str flasks were 41g, while the mats were 90g... lol.
