Because if you don`t have a 120 HZ monitor and only have a 60 HZ monitor, you monitor won`t show more then 60 FPS, even if your game say´s 200+FPS you will still onle see 60 FPS.

Vsync allso prevents you from getting screen terring, from forcing your monitor to try and show more FPS then it can. Vsync is your friend. DON`T TUNR IT OFF.

As for using CF in wow. atm it works like crap. i have turned my CF off while playing wow. it gives about zero FPS gaine. if you are running CF just because of wow, then you have wasted ALOT of money for nothing

Found this, as i'm still investigating.
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/nvidia...-32102-13.html Last section. Shows the 5870 crossfired if you go back to the previous page you'll see the numbers non benchmarked. Seen below. It does mention that ATI didn't quite have the Crossfire profiles out yet when they ran this test back in Jan.

I feel the benchmarks that these guys are doing a flightpath doesn't really compare to a 25man raid encounter although it is repeatable.

I plan on doing my own benchmarks using fraps (not sure what else to use) benchmarking the flightpath with Crossfire and without and then will also try in a 25man setting as well.

Keep in mind those benchmarks are only really verifying what we already discussed in the thread.

It's on a rather large monitor with that 2560x1600 resolution.
    LoL: Kr1sys

I agree, thats why i'm planning on doing my own at the 1080p level lol. As i said, the cards were hand me downs from my friend who gave me a deal on them. I'm not too worried about wasting money on them. Also plan on OCing the 2500k a bit more and redoing the tests to see how that effects things as well.

Back again with my own personal test.

    1920x1080 full screen, i5 2500K @ 4.0GHz (base 3.3 GHz), 8MB of RAM, ATI HD 5850 x2

First time doing a benchmark but I had everything set to Ultra where I could in WoW, 8x AA for this test. I'm using the fraps "benchmark" to calculate FPS results. I'm using the old Shattered Sun Offensive daily flight path that flies you into the dead scar since it has some action to it.

    With crossfire DISabled:

    Min, Max, Avg
    54, 115, 81.971

    with crossfire ENabled:

    Min, Max, Avg
    51, 164, 97.30

Anyhow, now to OC my chip a bit more and go from there
