Yes , but nothing about Storm's End or Edric Storm or Cortnay Penrose was mentioned , or , again , did i miss it ? Smuggle to land with no purpose was my point.
Well i guess it might make sense if the birthed shadow will be the one to kill Renly , since Renly's camp as we see it in the show is near sea , which it wasn't in the books .Still doesn't explain the gate and Davos's recognition of it though .

No. They cut that part out and combined the two different events into one. In the book, first we see a shadow. then we see Melisandre give birth to one a chapter or 2 later. They showed the birth first this time, and I don't think Edric or Courtney is going to make the cut. For the sake of time and trimming away too much fat.

You got the Reader's Digest version on the show. She's threatened with death, punched, forced to her knees, and whipped with the flat of a sword across the back of her legs repeatedly. Finally, the Hound growls, "Enough!" Joffrey says it isn't and orders her stripped. They start beating her again when Tyrion enters the scene with "What is the meaning of this?!" Aside from the beating being much easier than in the books, and Meryn taking Boros Blount's place, the scene was pretty accurate.

Oh, and Sandor tries to warn Joff off. Pity that little gem wasn't included.
Agreed. So much. Another little thing that irked me. (And I'm not even one of those San/San people)

If they cut out Edric Storm that's going to majorly affect the story later on. He becomes an important part of the Davos/Melisandre story line in book 5ish.

We get the episode 24 hours later in Europe so can only echo what has already been said.

The ending left me shocked; I know it's a fantasy book but that goes beyond the realms of fantasy. With all that black swirling mist coming out, whilst leaving me speechless, i was hoping a human form would follow 'it' out.

Arya was great again, I'm really rooting for the young princess and after seeing her get further in peril with the Lannisters and just hope she gets out of this okay.

Robb has once again proved himself on the battlefield; I'm yelling at the TV to ride faster towards King's Landing to sort out the little psychopath that is Jefrey.

As for Jefrey, what 15 year old gets the opportunity of a threesome and wants to watch one half beaten to death ! Seriously messed up kid; brilliant actor whom I'm hoping dies with as much pain as he has inflicted to those around him.

Sansa has become a better character; I hated how whiny she was in season 1; now she is learning and we are seeing her inner strength.

Qath as others have said has been shown as a beautiful city and the CGI looked great. Daenerys is still one of my favourite characters (aesthetically as well ) and I'm just hoping she takes over the city, using all the armies and the dragons to cross the water, but I'm sure that won't be this series.

Anyone else wanted Cat to stick that dagger in Littlefinger? I know the series would be worse off without him but the fact he was the one to betray Ned and then give his bones to his own wife really pi$$ed me off !

Tyrion - again - awesome. The line about him not hurting the old monk and suggesting that it would be a lie was great. He commands the screen in every scene he plays. I'd like to see him push Joffrey in to a corner the king cannot get out of.

I've thanked some of the people on this tthread for filling in the blanks and really appreciate it. Was watching with a friend last night and every 2 minutes was asked 'Who's that', 'why have they done that', 'what's happening here' etc so can only assume the fury that was filling up inside me was what you all have felt. I thank you for your patience

I doubt it (non-readers should probably ignore this part) It's in AFFC. Edric Storm ends up being a MacGuffin. Stannis only wanted him to prove Joffrey's bastardy. Melisandre did suggest burning him for king's blood, but Davos smuggles him off the island. Then he becomes no longer important at all. Yeah, he's a source of conflict between the 3, but if they cut him, I'm sure they can replace that conflict with something else. Or maybe we'll get Edric in some other fashion without Storm's End. In the end, I think he's expendable... Did I say that? Davos is going to be cross with me.

Jack Gleeson... My God ... The Writers behind his character and the actor himself are to be praised with the Utmost highest honour. I really cannot find fault in any of it ...

I LOVE the Acting/Writing .. But HATE the character, it's probably the only time I've actually thought like this about a Character.

I'm still DAFUQ about the Ending, but since I haven't read the books then I'll just have to wait for the Series to explain it as intended

This episode was great, I got nothing to complain about really, deffo made up for the mediocrity of episode 3, every scene was quality.
The nerve is called the "nerve of awareness". You cant dissect it. Its a current that runs up the center of your spine. I dont know if any of you have sat down, crossed your legs, smoked DMT, and watch what happens... but what happens to me is this big thing goes RRRRRRRRRAAAAAWWW! up my spine and flashes in my brain... well apparently thats whats going to happen if I do this stuff...

Well done HBO.. You've ruined it... it's is officially ruined..

I can never use or hear the word 'Tickle' again.... That was some fucked up shit

another awesome episode, they need to make a new award 'best fucking anything ever' and give it to Peter Dinklage, he's just... epic, in every episode, the scene with him and Lancel was perfect, and I loved the line about not harming a hair on Pycell's head (will be funny seeing him totally shaved). Also.. BEST line in the series so far
Tyrion 'Do you think dipping his whick will cure him?'
Brom 'There's no cure for being a cunt.' fucking legend

speaking of the royal bastard (never has that been a more appropriate name)Joffrey is so fucking wrong :S, they're really dialing up the sadistic fucker angle..

Qarth looked awesome from the little we saw, can't wait to see a bit more of the events there.

Sansa is going from Strength to Strength, it's a shame they seem to be dialing down the Hounds part in it all... I REALLY hope they don't get rid of his parts with Arya

Arya's scenes were awesome, Tywin Lannister was epic (but then, when is Charles Dance NOT epic), the question IS... does Tywin know who she is? Or does he just think she's a random little runaway girl? Next week is going to be AWESOME! all you need to do is check the title to know it's going to be an epic one with lots of Arya.

overall another stonker of an episode. Can't wait for next week

A little non-related trivia , i didn't like the cast for Shae , but i just found out the actress playing it used to do porn , and now i'm ok with her .WTF is going on , male brain ?!!

  12. #1672
it was ok, but so much straying from the book makes it kinda meh. i know they cant put everything in the show, but still. some of the upcoming stuff that will have to be left out is better than a homosexual scene with renly that doesnt even occur in the book.

    edit-realized i was spoiling a bit

Heh. Although her position isn't exactly the most glorious, good on her for getting out of porn and into a fucking fantastic show.\

//edit she's been out of porn for a while I guess. Oh well.

Heh , the woman is a controversy .After her porn saga she actually did some award winning movies and she is highly regarded as an actress ( which you couldn't tell by her performance in GOT imo ).Well , i don't care anymore anyway .

So I was planning to make a thread just for this, but...

How many people have seen this metal version of the Game of Thrones opening theme?

    It's pretty epic, to me!
I hope you haven't forgotten my role in this little story. I'm the leading man. You know what they say about the leading man? He never dies.

If you give in to your impulses in this world, the price is that it changes your personality in the real world. The player and character are one and the same.

Talking about GOT Theme songs this one is absolutely fantastic with one of the best quotes I've ever heard before by Ned Stark.

Best part is that I heard that song some time before I actually knew wtf GOT was, so when the scene came /drool

LoL that's pretty cool, I'd LOVE to here Apocolyptica covering the GoT theme, reckon they could do some serious badassery with it.

Not to sure about that, it's alright I guess, but they could have done alot more with it, and thrown in some Tyrion, everything needs more tyrion
