    OS for gamers

Which windows 7 edition is best for us?

  2. #2
Anything but Starter. Very little reason to go beyond Premium.
    Super casual.

Home Premium or Professional 64 bit.
    Intel Core i7 5820K @ 4.2GHz | Asus X99 Deluxe Motherboard | 16GB Crucial DDR4 2133 | MSI GTX 980 4G GAMING | Corsair HX750 Gold | 500GB Samsung 840 EVO

The Next Windows OS will have a "Gamer" Version or the all versions will be tailored more for gamers

  5. #5
Strictly for gaming? Home Premium would be sufficient, anything more than that would be overkill for gaming.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit. It works good for me.

  7. #7
I use Arch Linux, rock stable.
I'm not about to recommend it to anyone else, though.

    64-bit, any but starter.

    Most likely pirated.

Unless you're using the built-in disk imaging, there's no reason to get anything above home premium for a gamer.

No real reason to go 64-bit unless you need the ram. It can actually cause some games to run worse than in 32.
    i7-4770k - GTX 780 Ti - 16GB DDR3 Ripjaws - (2) HyperX 120s / Vertex 3 120
    ASRock Extreme3 - Sennheiser Momentums - Xonar DG - EVGA Supernova 650G - Corsair H80i

What..? Go read up on Windows SxS then come back. The only games to have any real problems are extremely old ones(I'm talking ones from 2001-2003). Vast majorities of modern PC's come with 4gb or more and seeing as its pretty much a standard now for gaming 64 bit is perfectly fine.

    Damn old people.

You know he pirated it.. how?

Besides doing it yourself, that is.

    See what I did there?

In all fairness, was it really just me who was thinking what off specc gamers have?. . . Or perhaps a bit too much WoW this late at night?

I think you must make another BE toon Ayako!! :P

Clearly the correct play here is to drop acid everyday.
Just because you can't easily overdose on acid doesn't mean that dropping 50 hits in a night won't turn you into a drooling retard.

Professional version has RAID1/5 in software which are more interesting features than VHD for gamers.

And yet again you're spewing bullshit without proof. Only games that have issues with 64bit Windows are more than decade old. Getting any other version than 64bit for modern hardware is damn stupid because you'll be locked on low RAM mode with no future proofing capabilities.

    Trolling should be.

I would've made the same guess, because paying for Ultimate for daily use is just stupid and pointless in 99% of the cases.

Don't see why he would have to have pirated it to have a clue about it, you propably know that sun is quite a hot place even though you have never been there don't you?

OpenGL 2.0, even not 4.1, and no DirectX support at all.

That kinda disqualifies it right there.

Good point on OpenGL... I think its going to be updated in 10.7. DirectX? Bah! DirectX is tempermental and buggy, OpenGL is better. The plus DX does have is constant updates and development though.

I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic about the Mac thing. Most games don't even play on Mac.
