    New Build. Check it out.

Hello, I have decided build my first PC and was wondering if this is a decent build. My budget is around $800.

    Here it is:

    Power Supply - Corsair 650TX V2
CPU - AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE
Heatsink - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
    Motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-890GPA-UD3H AM3
    Memory - 4GB G.Skill Ripjaws F3 4GB 12800 DDR3
    Graphics Card - XFX 5770
    Hard Drive - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB
    DVD Drive - Lite-On LightScribe 24X SATA DVD+/-RW
    OS - Windows 7 64-Bit
Case - NZXT Guardian Black SECC Steel Chassis ATX Mid Tower Case 921RB-BL

This build puts me at $830, which is just in my budget. Thanks.

Looking good, althought I'd just grab a GTX 460 if you can magically find a bit more money.

^^ The 5770 still is a nice card, so it's not worth killing yourself for a 460, but 460 is probably a better deal in the long run.

Nice PSU, CPU, excellent CPU cooler, great mobo, awesome RAM, F3 is a killer of an HDD and yeah, sexy case. I'd say you're ready to go.

You're right it's not a bad card. I myself just played crysis 2 today on a 5750 on very high settings at 1920x1080. i had no issues / lagspikes at all.

only fair warning I'd give you is, if your power supply has more than 1 rail if you crash/bsod try switching which cables are pluged in, sometimes you end up juicing out one single rail on the entire computer itself.

other than that, your build is solid

A 550 would be better at the same price

Crysis 2 is a bloody console port. I think it is less demanding than Crysis 1.

No, the 550 sucks pretty hard. The 4890 is even alot betther than the 5770, if you don't need dx11
If you just want to play wow, a 5770 is more than enough.

As noone has said it yet, Intel>AMD at the moment, go for a sandy bridge CPU and a P67 board if you want to OC. AMD are just way too far behind until bulldozer comes out to recommend, especially as the current CPUs are old tech already.
