    Question on Heroic Magmaw

    Hi

Just a question, for heroic Magmaw, is it possible to use a hunter pet to tank all the small adds, keep them in place and slowly let the hunter mulitshot them to death with constant Misdirection to pet? We do not have a DK available to kite those small adds and switching dps to zerg them down is also not possible with the big add around.

So any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance

I think they "infect" pets too, which means no you cannot just have your pet tank them. I'd imagine specced MM with Concussive barrage would be plenty though? We use a fire mage to kite/solo them.

I believe it's possible to just tank them normally if you don't have a frost DK, but they'll need to be killed by ranged and tanked out of the raid.

Since the nerf we just put a prot warrior on them and let him go to town to the top of the meters.

If they infect pets to, pet infected -> Dismiss -> Call? But yeah, what we do is put 2 ranged on outside with a healer to get them down, and rest of the dps get the blazing who is tanking where melee normally is, behind the spike. Required a bit of practice, but once you know what I mean you can take guilds through the progression in an hour and a bit.. Ive progressed it in two diff guilds now ;O.

Trust me when I say you should stick dps on the parasites. You should get blazing down to 20% as one spawns and what not, so youll be perfect on time. All dps is done during head down.

We switch and zerg them just fine on our 10 man kills. 3 ranged, 2 melee.

We move the adds to melee range where we got a fury warrior focus on them and a combat rogue hitting the boss+add. The ranged kills all parasites (Got a boomkin or a hunter for AoE slow) and then just switch on the big adds. If one of the adds goes down to armageddon range while the ranged are killing the parasites, we switch to the big add for a few second to get it down.

This. Possibly the most fun I've had tanking a fight.

Do you tank the big add as well or just small ones?

Kite little ones and kill them, tank big ones. If you have a rogue he should be combat and the adds tanked near him so he can cleave.

Edit: I guess you could have a warrior tank the little adds, frost dk/hunter/mages work for kiting.

We've done two strats. The first one we tried is where I just tank the big adds, and the ranged kills the parasites and the big adds. What we've been doing for the past 3 kills is having myself tank and kill the parasites and tank the bone constructs (big adds). The ranged kills the bone constructs, then switches back to dpsing Magmaw. Melee stays on Magmaw full time. Ranged ignores the parasites entirely.

With a Warrior tank in charge of killing parasites, your raid dps requirement is lowered and healing requirement is slightly increased. Your Warrior tank will also do massive amount of dps since he/she has a ton of adds on them full time, so it's fun for a tank in that regard.

We personally just nuke the big adds and have a frost dk kites the adds all around. Works pretty well for us.

Yap the issue we facing is we do not have any DK available.

I normally solo them as a moonkin specced into fungal growth for the slow

Not hard at all to kite and destroy with mushrooms critting for 20k each ^^

lol alot of people are just posting what they do (which is what most of us do) without actually helping the OP, but i would say that in 10man your tank could tank them if you have a rogue or hunter MD/tricks the small ones to him while he takes the big adds and cleave them down, if hes a warrior spec into blood and thunder for faceroll deeps

I'm not sure about a pet tanking the parasites, as I don't know if pets can get infected, or even how much damage the parasites actually do in melee. But it should certainly be very possible to have a SV hunter kite them, and kill them while doing so.

Sorry to go off topic but from 30% >>0 Do adds still spawn? and do you kill them or stay on magmaw due to shadow volley?

What do you do with the adds up small and big at 30%

When you hit phase 2, you should just ignore the remaining Bone Constructs and focus nuking down Magmaw.

use a fire mage, works perfectly. we tried a hunter but the initial threat wasnt good enough and we had the odd one running at healers

I would say this is simple as fuck.
You should have your OT to tank big adds.
If you have mage, use that to kite small adds. Also hunter and boomkin works very well on this. We use boomkin on our group.
Anyway, if you have rogue, put him to tot all small worms to your kiter and slow down adds with trap for instance.
Btw, I hope you have splitted your dps between big add and small adds? And remember, you dont dps boss if there is add up. Except on some situation.
But with mage/boomkin/hunter/whoever is kiting, give him one tot or md and he should be able to kite adds and get them down.
And, when you are reaching 30%, stop dps at 32% and wait for headphase, when head is down, pop heroism and screw adds. Use everything and burn down boss. We usually get magmaw down to 6% with this method and last phase is very fast.
    Lol
