So let me get this right: OP's logic is that FF7 can't be considered the "best" RPG to anyone because it wasn't the first generation of RPGs to exist? That makes absolutely no sense. Does that also mean that no RPG in the future is ever allowed to be better than what already exists? Because you know, Lufia 1 was so much better than say Tales of Vesperia.
The entire premise of this thread is a fallacy and OP is a wannabe hipster, I'm callin it now.
I have no problem with people having different taste. I just think it's a bit silly to make an entire thread just to vaguely bash people who like FF7. The thread isn't even about ff7, it's about the people that LIKE ff7. It's a flaming/hater thread. That is what I don't like, never have liked flamers and trolls.
Seven definitely wasn't the best of the series.
Personally I would go with Ocarina of Time for the title of "best game ever".
Chrono Trigger is hands down my favorite game. The setting, story, game play and music is brilliant!
EDIT: Hinaaja to be honest you seem more like a troll than the OP sorry.
What the hell ? You're the one making a thread claiming that we must be wrong if we think FFVII is the best RPG ever ! The whole point is that people have different tastes. I love FFVII, it's my favourite FF, and yes, I'm a 90s kid. That doesn't make me a moron, that doesn't mean I can't accept that other people may prefer different games, that doesn't even mean that I think FFVII is the best game ever. I do think it's one of the finest video games ever made, even though for its time, FFVI was probably better generally speaking.
Then again, I think FFVIII and FFX are incredible games as well, which is not something a lot of stereotypical FFVII lovers will say.
I have to agree with the posters claiming (3)6 was better, I've probably played through the game at least 15 times. The SNES JRPG era was really great, with games like Chrono Trigger, Lufia, Tales Series, Secret of Mana, Terranigma, RoboTrek, Earthbound etc. This is ofc largely because of nostalgia reasons and this really got me started plaing RPGs.
