No. Burke is going nowhere since A) there is no one to replace him B) It's not Burke's fault that Wilson can't get the guys motivated and playing well.

People seem to think that building a team is simple, and it's not. To be honest, the one thing I am still confused about is as to why they replaced the assistant coaching staff last summer, after the team had gone on that great run post All Star break, and replaced them with a bunch of guys who have tried to improve the defensive end of the team. If Wilson goes, I say the assistants go too. Keith Acton had been one of the mainstays with the Leafs the last few years and knows his stuff, I think he deserved to stay with the team as an assistant though. No idea why he was let go at all after last season. Wilson would still have his job if they had not let go Acton and Tim Hunter.

That said, Carlyle wouldn't be a horrible replacement, he has a Cup ring to his name and knows Burke's building tendencies, it could be a good fit.

Thinking about this a little more... not sure if firing the head coach this close to the end of the season was a good idea. I dunno what will be gained. I mean.. I guess Burke got pressure from the owners and the constant fan/media fire burke chant at every game must have weighed. Toss this season though. Unless it was Wilson keeping the team down and they all see this as a major positive now.. I think we can call this a bust.
