Breaking news. The Leafs lost Mike Mottau to the Panthers. According to Google, he actually is a person.

Apparently the Leafs are looking at Clarkson for 7 years in the 5.5 range... that is a lot of money to tie up in a guy who's never had 50 points and cracked 20 goals once. And a guy who was -32 in the two years before lockout. I still think him on the right with Bolland/van Riemsdyk would be a rough line to have to play against, but that's.. too much money.

Decent price for a large, physical power forward not afraid to do the dirty work...perfect linemate for Kessel

I was literally just thinking that to myself when I saw him still on the board. Probably get better play for less money than Clarkson.

Bozak 5 years 21M. This is a good deal for both sides (better for Bozak).

amazingly, in the world of professional sports, when you dont perform you get shunted aside for those that are. Or sent down the foodchain to send a message..and when you get that message you are brought back up..see: Kadri for why this is effective

    Stalberg to Nashville

So here's what I see playing out with what we have so far. Assuming they'll get things worked out with Kadri.

    Lupul Bozak Kessel
    van Riemsdyk Bolland Clarkson
    Kulemin Kadri
    McLaren McClement Orr

Do they let Joe Colborne walk? Do they give an AHLer a chance to crack the 3rd line? D'Amigo maybe?

EDIT: They still have ~14M of cap space too.

    Bozak, Kessel and Jvr

    Lupul, Kadri and Clarkson

    most likely lines.

Kadri and Lupul played great together with Kuli, add clarkson to that line it will be pretty solid

My concern is that we traded for Bolland, and if you just slot him down in 3rd line minutes like he was at the end of Chicago (and 4th), he won't want to come back. Senseless trade if there's no long term plan, when you could just let Colborne get some steady NHL time for once. Also, a big reason Kadri put up such great numbers is that he was kind of under the radar on the 3rd line (often being used as a second line). It's going to be interesting whatever happens, for sure. Still need to lock up some RFAs, but I'm kind of excited.

Detroit is going to be good next season, I guess they want to compete in the new East.

Loving the Clarkson signing and the Bozak extension, with Bolland in the mix, we have a great team moving forward.

I can understand how Grabs is pissed, but the Leafs were handcuffed, they had no choice but to buy him out. He wasn't fitting into the system, and that's the way it is. He should be thankful he isn't a football player and that his contract is actually guaranteed.

  15. #19015
Well it is and it isn't... he's only going to get like 11M of the 30 he had left on his contract.

Well his reason for being pissed were pretty straight forward. It was the coach who didn't give him the chance

    Detroit looking at Morrow

Alfie and Weiss seem like good fits in Detroit.
Bummed about losing Emery and Frolik.
Glad we resigned Roszival and Handzus
    Don't care about Stalberg.
Bolland will play a bigger role for Toronto so it's probably better for him moving forward.
    Flyers overpaid for Lecavalier.
Dallas making some splashes but I think Eriksson is better than Seguin.

I am still highly bummed that we are losing Komarov for next season, though his deal in the KHL is 2 years with an out clause for the second year. I would think that if he wants to return to Toronto, there will be a place for him, he was a huge key factor in the Leafs success with Carlyle's system and if he can bring his style of game back with some more polish to his offensive game, our top 9 will absolutely dominate other teams at both ends.
