Well, Kessle continues to score like crazy, 3 goals in 2 games.
Detroit keeps up the beer league game. Jesus christ just get rid of the players on that team already. i've never seen a bigger bunch of old slow farts on the ice than the Detroit Red wings this season.
Just unbelivable how bad they are. No effort what so ever. Time for babcock to get some new and younger recruits.
They're playing pretty meh overall lately, is the problem for many Red Wings fans. They haven't won in 7 games. You can call it a 'winless' streak in that they've gotten some points from OT/SO losses, but either way you slice it, that's 7 straight losses.

By the way, did anyone see that pass from MacArthur to Turris shorthanded last night? :O
That's some sexiness right there. Wasn't aware MacArthur had those moves. :O

Don't you know, west is best
Why? We only have 3 points less than you and if we were in the East we would be a playoff team. Hell and thats with Rinne sitting at home, imagine if we had our actual NHL goalie. We aren't gonna win the cup by any stretch but it ain't like we are Buffalo, Florida, or Edmonton.
i wonder if you've even seen any of the games detroit has played this season. It seems like you dont.
Babcock did what i expected, went down to AHL and got some fresh young players up and its good to see Gustav Nyqvist back. Now they just need to remove some expensive dead weight if they would have a shot at the playoffs.
Only reason they are not near bottom atm is that they've played some weak teams (at that moment).

i agree that Predators could be a playoff team. Its sad to see rinne struggle after his surgery and still being out now with the E-Coli infection etc.
by far the hardest conference is infact Central Div.
I think in the end of the season we will be seeing almost the same standings as now
#1 Chicago
#2 St Louis (Might actually take first spot if chicago dont stop their inconsistancy)
#3 Colorado
Then you have the wildcard. Pred MIGHT get lucky but atm its highly unlikely due to Minnesota and Dallas having just... insane goalies. Dallas has picked up bigtime on offensive

Despite it only been played 25% of the matches this season. East is not anywhere close to Western in terms of quality.
East we have Boston, Tampa and Pittsburgh pretty much then wildcard teams like Washington, Philly(if they focus) And Montreal. .
Western we have the powerhouse teams Chicago, St Louis, Colorado, San Jose, Anaheim, kings and Phoenix (Atm) Then wildcard teams that can get further up like Vancouver, Dallas, Minnesota and Nashville(If mazanec keeps up what he's doing now)
Ofc its still early, alot can change but atm this is what i see as most likely
Sure, if the West had as many mediocre teams as the East, the points distribution would be all flipped around. It's amusing how you west fanboys think that your teams are instantly better because you have fed points off the shitty teams in the East yet lose to some of the better ones. Also look that the point differential between 10 and 15th in the East, a difference of 3 points. The difference between 9 and 14th in the West is 12 points. The East has far more competition in vying for playoff spots while the West only has a couple of fringe teams on the fringe, but half the teams in the West wouldn't be above 30 points if they weren't feeding wins off the crappy teams. The teams might not be better, but the East is going to be the harder conference to get a playoff spot in with how below par a lot of the teams are. Outside the top 5, no one is a lock for the playoffs right now. Teams in the West aside from Colorado, Dallas and St. Louis are averaging more games played as well, if those were games against East teams that and they wound up losing, well, that would put Eastern teams in higher point totals. Right now Anaheim has played 25 games, the most of any team in the league and they have the most points.
Also no, Pittsburgh and Boston are tied at 30 points, Pittsburgh is 15 and 8 while Boston is 14 and 9, LA who are 15-6-2, do not have a better record then Pittsburgh and are only 2 points ahead because of the retarded free overtime/shootout point.
East has 56 wins vs West. West has 94 wins vs East. It's hard to argue with numbers, man.
NHL team stats has a stat called Point Percentage. Obviously, the number of points your team has received divided by the # of possible points they could have if they had a perfect record.
1. St. Louis .786
2. Colorado .762
3. San Jose .750
4. Chicago .739
5. Phoenix .727
6. Anaheim .700
7. Los Angeles .696
7. Minnesota .696
9. Boston .682
10. Pittsburgh .652
11. Tampa Bay .630
12. Toronto .614
13. Detroit .587
14. Vancouver .583
15. Dallas .571
So even though Anaheim has the most points and the most games played, they're still getting more points than East teams. The top 8 are all Western teams, and 10/15 come from the west. That's 10 teams from the 14 Western Conference teams in the west. The other 4 are Nashville (17), Winnipeg (21), Calgary (25) and Edmonton (29).
Regardless of the 'retarded' overtime/shootout extra point, it's in the rules for now. It's not their fault they finished the game tied.
Do you know why the West gets to feed off the 'many mediocre teams' in the East? Because they're better.
Also, how are you going to try and actually argue that Pittsburgh has a better record at 15-8 than a team whose record is 15-6-2?
Are the West better? Absolutely. Are they guaranteed to win the Cup because of regular season record? Do the arguments people are making that x Western Conference team would make the playoffs in the East matter at all? No, they wouldn't have under the old format either, when Western Conference playoff cutoff was typically 4-7 points higher than the East. The last time the West's 8th seed had less than a East 8th seed was the 08-09 season. The West is better and has been for a few years now.

So Ryan Suter is averaging 29.5 minutes of ice time a game... this early in the season. He has 19.5 through 2 periods so far today in a game they're down 1-0... is Mike Yeo trying to make sure he's exhausted by the playoff push or something?
