No, I deleted the old client for good measure and reinstalled from the official source.

Because im not a geek, what exactly does adding - img do to said file? what makes it faster? (i wish to learn something new )

Basically, it will be like in GW1. When you install the client you download the base files needed to run the game, and nothing more. The map files and other things will be downloaded the first time you enter that zone, which can cause loading screens to be rather long. What -image does is download all of these map files and other non-essential files at the same time so you won't have to do that at the loading screens. Also, having -image at the shortcut does not start the game. And if you run the -image shortcut again after it already downloaded once it will download the whole thing again. So make sure to remove the -image when it's done downloading.

Also: Once I finish reinstalling I can compare my installation size with someone who didn't do -image and see if it is in fact installing more data.

I installed off the update version from the old client, and -image doesn't grab any more data for me.
It pops the old launcher and closes straight away.

Emails are on the way, and some people are getting 502 from that email link, which they are working on (if not fixed already), there is a link you can use tho

The email is going to tell you to go https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/index then click on News and Announcements > Getting Started > then search for Download the Guild Wars 2 executable file.

Anyone else got horrible downloading speed for the client? I'm to embarrassed to say what mine is at currently.

From what I've read it downloads faster than what it actually says. It opens multiple connections and the displayed speed is just 1 of the connections, so you're more likely doing 3-5 times what it actually says.

Mine was at 300 kb/s consistently.
