Been an interesting few pages to catch up on
I'm going to throw my 2 cents in with the whole skinny/curvy discussion.
The idea of an "ideal" of feminine beauty is a ridiculous one.
We're all some damn different: petite, tall, curvy, slender, thin, titian, dark, nordic etc etc etc. And almost all of us want what we don't have. Curvy women want to be slimmer. Slim women want more curves. Curly haired ladies want straight hair. Straight haired girl spends a fortune on perms... the list goes on. And on. And on.

Why are we all so image obsessed? Because image is forced down our throats from a young age. Ads for Clearasil (IF YOU HAVE SPOTS YOU'RE HIDEOUS AND NO BOY WILL WANT YOU) anti ageing creams (IF YOU HAVE A WRINKLE YOU'RE HIDEOUS AND NO ONE WILL WANT YOU) , weight loss (IF YOU'RE FAT YOU'RE HIDEOUS AND NO ONE WILL WANT YOU).
It's no wonder women (and men, to a lesser degree) are so bloody self conscious about the way we look.

It's only as we get older, we learn that with a make-up artist, hair stylist, flattering lighting and liberal use of an airbrush, almost ANYONE can look good. And we learn to accept the less perfect bits of ourselves as well as the good bits.

I'm 28 now and I'm only just accepting my body for what it is and not wanting to change it. I'm curvy. It's all good. I eat healthily and take moderate exercise, so I guess curvy is just the way I'm intended to be.
Similarly, I've known a couple of really slim women (I'm talking UK size 6) that eat plenty but just didn't put on weight.

We just have to decide to not let the fashion industry (which is, lets face it, dominated by homosexual men) dictate how we should or shouldn't look.
