Well at the moment Ponies are all over the internet, hipsters hate to be in a group, they also hate anything that is popular or mainstream (Which is ironic because Hipster fashion appears to be "in") so no, we dont call these people hipsters.
Rainbows are not alive so they dont have a gender.
I'm talking about things that are generally associated with genders, not the gender of the things themselves >.>

Also, I know of no one that likes these ponies, nor knows about them besides me, so, if they do know about them, they're probably not telling me BECAUSE they want it behind doors, aka NOT mainstream.....

So yes, AT THE MOMENT, I'm assuming everyone who likes this show is a hipster until proven wrong with facts

Hipster is nothing to be ashamed of, it's just a sticker I'm giving you lol.

But the sticker makes no sense. At the moment it seems EVERY board on the internet has a pony thread. Nobody talks about it in real life because they dont want people to know they watch a little girls show. Online is different because nobody knows who you are :P
Its like saying nobody talks about watching porn, they want it to be behind doors. If you watch porn you must be a hipster.

Wait, looked on knowyourmeme just to check, and this is a meme, figures

Meme's always make stuff popular, EVEN this....stuff.

And no, you're taking my previous statement the wrong way.

All of my friends know I could care less what they do, even watch a little girls show.

Not just a little harder, MLP is very clearly designed with little girls in mind. The internet phenomenon has, I think, built up more through surprise as older males wrestle with 30 years of stigma saying they Should Not Watch My Little Pony.

This thing IMO for people who feel the need to be unique, like something out of the ordinary....what do they call those people.....hipsters?
We call them Cutie-Mark Crusaders and they are very special and unique - they just need to find their way.

Hipster is a word used by hipsters to try to distinguish themselves from others, isn't it?

You got it the wrong way round - popular things generate memes.

My Little Pony isn't a meme, it has however spawned a few unique memes and subverted quite a few others :-)

I was asking you guys, I'm not clearly sure as to what a hipster even IS

But if you care less that means that you actually care, which would mean they actually do watch Ponies.

Also KYM has posts about generally anything, half the stuff isnt even considered a Meme.
MLP is on there because of the many Sub-memes that are actually in the show (Scootabuse, Gyrobowl, Trollestia, Molestia etc etc)

Hitler House is not a meme, yet it is on KYM

Technically hipsters are a type of jeans, but I don't think that's how people use it on the 'net.

Generally it tends to get thrown around by people to belittle another group of people they percieve are trying to be cool by following a trend; ironically using the hipster tag has become a trend marking those who use it as a sort of meta-hipster.

Ooh - if it helps I think hipsters used to be called "scene-kids", and in my day we called them "trendies".

Basically I went on IRC right after I had gotten my avatar (Regular Ordinary Swedish Meal Time), and I caps'd "DINNER IS SERVED, BITCHES".
Then he banned me saying "you got served" :C

Well, it's frankly not really applicable to bronies at large. We don't watch or talk about this show just to rebel against a crowd, which is my perception of a hipster's M.O. We watch it because it's a well-made cartoon and we are people who like good cartoons, period. Gender association or intended age group could matter less to us; it's a good cartoon nonetheless.

Although I can probably imagine that it being a My Little Pony series in the first place helped out in spreading it. If it was a good cartoon based on some other universe, it probably wouldn't even have peaked out of /co/. But I can imagine that people found it so hillarious that they were watching and thoroughly enjoying a cartoon based on MLP, and that's part of the reason why it got viral. Most people don't expect the words "quality cartoon" to be associated with "My Little Pony", so it peaks their interest, and then they become part of the herd as well .

At least, that's how I and most people whose stories I've heard got into it.

    Hipster is a comparative term.

Amusing part is I read all 53 pages. (I was bored, shut up)

I personally just think the characters are cute, haven't watched the show. Have other stuff on my 'to watch list' (anime) at the moment, if I ever start watching them... :P

Actually we're more cancerous than viral, but in a good way.
