Lightbulb New pc or upgrade current

Ok heres the deal i have 400 dollars to spend and i have an old dell demension 4600 with a 300w PSU 3.25gb RAM Nvidia 6200 LE 512mb GPU and a 2.8Ghz Single core. I have been thinking of either getting a cheap computer for 400 dollars or spending 195 dollars to upgrade my current one to a 500w PSU getting 4gb RAM and a HD Radeon 4670 1Gb GPU and buying a PCI fan. Please tell me what you think i should do and if you think i should purchase a new computer give me a link to one i could get and please remember my budget is 400 prolly could go to 450 MAX.

    Thanks,

It wont matter what GPU you stick in that thing, the CPU is a bottleneck. $450 wont get you much, you will end up building another in a year or so. I would suggest you bank your cash and save a bit more then wait for the new AMD line to drop, then you can build around the AM3+ line at a discount price.

Amd will do the price drop in 2 months or less, that isn't to much longer to wait and possible you could save up another $200 and build something that will last 2+ years easily enough.

Doesn't matter what you "upgrade", that 2.8ghz single-core (is that a pentium??) is going to keep your performance locked down. Your build needs a new CPU, which means a new Mobo, which basically means a new computer.

This is good! He could change that GTX460 to an HD6850, and grab some 1333mhz RAM instead (ridiculously cheap these days).
But yeah for $450 this is looking like a solid upgrade
