Isn't blood magic locked out? Was on closed beta anyway.

Combat is pretty slow, you can move while attacking but if you are range you move 50% slower till the attack goes off.

I actually like questing in TSW more. GW2s are standard quest masked behind smoke and mirrors. I capped out the GW2 and the only real advantage GW2 questing has is convenience, its really nothing you haven't seen before. TSWs are the same but a bit more interactive. Objectives are always just in plain view. GW2 did spoil me in other areas though and that you don't have to talk to NPCs to pick up quest. I keep trying to dodge attacks (though TSW does have a very bare bones avoidance system) and I keep forgetting that TSW uses mob tagging.

I feel more engaged in TSWs story than GW2s. The dialogue is cliche but effective at setting the mood and telling a story. Combat is slightly past standard MMOs. As a rogue in WoW I do like the point system though. I also like that they are no levels, no classes. You are able to pick and choose your skills and builds freely and like GW2 is all dependent on your weapon(s). Like GW2, the world feels alive, GW2 feels more alive but I can see them building upon the overall environment in TSW.

I also really liked the solo instance. An instance thats not just about clearing all of the mobs from it. An easy puzzle but a puzzle none the less.

TSW can either be a solid game or its developers will let it crash and burn but so for I am having fun. I had no opinion on TSW until I got a beta key the other day and I can at least give it a nod of approval. It has enough of its own style and feel to be successful. Even though I had a blast in GW2 (at lot more than TSW I'll add), GW2 did not hold my attention like TSW because GW2 is in your stand magic and blades fantasy setting where TSW is in a dark modern world populated myths, monsters, and mystery. Could possibly be another game I will pick up down the line.

Pacox, are you describing hearts or DEs? Because the hearts are basically questing but without talking to people. DEs are more like quests that branch depending on the outcome, but again without the quest giver (with the exception of escort stuff)

But yeah, basically GW2 questing is at its core the same thing as any other questing. It's just presented in a much better way.

Sadly a lot of people didn't do their research and went in expecting... something else I guess.

edit: Oh, there's also personal story which is a lot like TORs, but your decision has a far greater impact on the storyline. But I don't think you were talking about that.

But anyways, I haven't done much research on TSW, can someone describe the differences to me, compared to the typical WoW format? What makes it different?

What's the questing like, what is the endgame, ect.

The only thing that made TSW questing stand out was 1) the cut scenes and 2) the internet browser.

Otherwise its your same kill X find Y follow Z

What do you mean internet browser?

Do you search for quests on Craigslist or something? :0

Thanks for the entertainment. Enjoyed watching someone do the things that stumped the hell out of me, and helping out.

There are investigative quests, where you have to use the built in internet browser to find the answer. In kingsmouth you need to find the password to the doctors computer and the hints are "music of the seasons" and a year which was 1764 I think.

combat feels pretty bad though, there is some bug that constantly drops your target and then the 50% slow thing (that will be annoying in PvP). Chaos and fist was pretty cool though, just ranged felt bleh and some quests are just awful.

Like following the siren, the music notes are everywhere you can't tell where to go.

Story wise, I don't get it. I mean at the start some guy appears before you and ask you to join their organization. However you are just dumped in the organization there wasn't any story telling there. Then they tell you to go to kingsmouth and then your plopped into the story there with no direction where to go (if you want to follow the story anyway) so you get bits and pieces that don't make sense till the end.

The game is good, but not good enough for a subscription.

Imo they could get more money in the long term with a GW2 model, pay the box and heavy cash shop with costumes and XP boosts.

Yea, I feel the same way. Actually really enjoy the game but it feels threadbare in sections.

Major gripe with the game is the performance:fidelity. It doesn't seem to run very smoothly for looking so old. I wouldn't mind it if the game world was spectacular. Compared to a game like Tera which is about the best looking MMO I ever played, just so happens to run like melted butter for, I just don't understand why TSW looks so bad yet runs so poorly.

I hope there is some serious optimization in the pipe for the game and maybe some higher-res textures & model reworks.

For me, besides a few crashes do to "not enough memory" whatever that means, my game runs smooth as silk while If I play Tera I get choppy everything on lowest settings possible.

Which is why I don't play Tera

So I am going to milk closed beta (since its free weeeeeeeeeeee) and decide if I want to play when it goes live.

Your ability to get inside of my brain and say what I was going to is kinda creepy. Stop that.

    Comodo killed my game client...

Found out the game is going to P2P and suddenly don't care about it anymore. I honestly thought it was B2P or F2P.

This game is based of the Conan engine and I remenber conan running better and smoother and looking better aswell...

Also the female models are all horrible and ugly I cant make a decent looking one.

Am I stupid or is there no "logout to character select" option... Because restarting the client each time I want to switch characters is supremely annoying : /

TSW is def. playable at low-mid settings for me. Just not that silky smooth GW2/Tera feel and nowhere near the same artistry or fidelity. Some textures are just blurry regardless of resolution- v. noticeable on vehicles. While characters don't really seem they have enough polygons-- seems silly, but if you look closely the joints, articulation and roundedness of the models is inconsistent.

I suspect that is why many are calling the game stiff. It's not. Just rendered sorta poorly and that feedback to player perception is kinda jarring.

Don't think they can get away with uncanny valley stuff either. Not when say, LA Noire or Saint's Row look better with RL settings.

    Really? play a little more

I just got done with a quest where I need a password for a computer. I found a clue in a picture, took the hint from the computer. Then looked it up on the in game browser. about 4 or 5 links down I found something, put it in and it was the answer. the computer opened.

Now I've been gaming for almost 30 years. I have never did anything like that, and this is just the newbie zone...
