-the olympic torch run was invented by the nazis
-Radovan Karaczic worked for the FC Barcelona as a psychologist
-the word gymnasium comes from the ancient Greek word gymnasion (γυμνάσιον), meaning "place to be naked"

-more tigers live in private US property than worldwide in the wild
-booze inventor Jim Beam was originally called Jakob Böhm and is German
-a 4year old child asks about 400 questions a day
-according to US food regulations, 9mg rat fecies per kg wheat are allowed
-M&Ms were developed for soldiers to be able to eat chocolate without stickying their fingers
-there is no confirmed report of piranhas killing a man
-there's an ATM in the White House's basement
-in very low concentration, sodium chloride (salt) tastes sweet
-Nokia started out making rubber boots
-if you remove the brain of a male bristle worm, it turns female
-when pope Innozenz III lay dying in 1492, his doctors let him drink the blood of 3 boys. They boys died. The pope, too.
-Prof. Robert Smith? teaches mathematics at the university in Ottawa and insists on the question mark to be part of his name
-statistically, a person lies every 4.8 minutes

    isnt it something like 6% (+/- 1%)?

That IS something I need to know. I don't want to eat wheat bread knowing it might have rat crap in it. It's a good thing I prefer white bread.

it's 1 - [probability that they are all born on different days]
    so 1 - ( 1* 364/365 * 363/365 * ... * 343/365 ) = 0,5073
(or to give a closed formula for the math nerds, 1 - (1/365)^23*(365!/343!))

White bread is also made of wheat.
But 9mg in 1 kg is only 0.0009%, and you shouldn't eat the wheat raw, anyway. You take in more germs by inhaling in a subway.

Wrong. White bread is clearly made of white, not wheat.

    - Agent Orange, the herbicide that was used in Vietnam war to let trees drop their leaves, has its name derived from the fact that the barrels had an orange label on it.

    - the word IKEA is derived from the first letter of the guy who started the company, the name of the farm where he grew up and the village in which that farm was.
    - Yankee is derived from the Dutch language, probably from the names Jan and Kees.

mythbusters disproved this. both in caloric value as in vitamins and minerals, the cornflakes are considered better to eat than the packaging.

    A woman's heart beats faster than a man's.
Wouldn't that then disprove the fact that women live longer than men (since your natural age is defined by how many times your heart beats)?
