Talent Trees and Cookie Cutter Specs

I read blizzards post on Cataclysm talent trees and found it interesting that they didn't mention anything about their goal of getting rid of cookie cutter specs and allowing more extra points for "fun talents".

This obviously did not happen as most specs do have a "cookie cutter" for both PVE and PVP, leaving maybe 1-2 points to spend on a talent that is not by any means "fun".

What's the deal with Cataclysm talent trees not living up to their expectations?

Yes they are definitely better than they were, but certainly not how Blizzard wanted to take them entirely.

The talent trees are one of the WORST things to come out of cata.

I really miss the days of 31/20 and the various other builds. TBC had the most variety.
