For those of you that don't know, Jennifer Lopez's ex-hubby has been taking bids from several companies on their Honeymoon "private" videos. J-LO took him to court to try and make sure that those videos never made it into the public eye but was apparently shut down by the judge who essentially told her she has no case and he can do whatever he wants with the videos since they are his property.
On one hand, I'm a dude and I'm naturally looking forward to seeing these things when they are finally bought then released but on the other hand, I am SHOCKED that she has no case. Seems kinda f**ked up to me that she has no rights in this case and can't legally stop him from releasing videos of them getting down on cam.
Thoughts?

I agree that she should be able to stop him, especially if he's planning on selling it without her permission. But I don't know how the laws work around that, but he shouldn't be able to sell it without her consent. Originally Posted by Dave131

I don't know enough about the judicial system to have a valid opinion but I am assuming it has something to do with straight up ownership of the videos which I suppose he can do whatever the hell he wants with. Thing is, I feel like to an extent, the material could be considered slanderous in that it will effect her reputation and career in a very real way. So yeah, I'm kinda torn. She'll appeal the court case and I would be shocked if she didn't win it. Videos are not simply somebody's property because they own the tape; if other people besides yourself are in it, you MUST obtain permission from those in the video to use it in a commercial venture. There's no wiggle room, that's how the law works. I wonder what the hell that judge was smoking.
If I took a video of YOU, and then gained profit off of it without your permission, you could potentially sue me, and rightfully so.

Pretty sure it's just that the law states if you're in a video and you consented to being in that video, the owner can do what they like with it.
Once again, It's just proof that laws are stupid, and we need to use a little more common sense.
