[ALL] The saddest Film/TV Show/Song/Book you have experienced.

Well I was thinking about how much I cry when I watch/listen/read stuff and it happens alot. So I decided to think about the saddest of these.

    Film:
Candy, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candy_%282006_film%29 brilliant Heath Ledger movie. Wasn't one positive moment in the whole film, was one of the most horrible things I had ever seen(not in the 'omg this sucks' way, but the 'its so painful to watch' kind)

    TV show:
This takes the cake for the saddest thing ever for me. 1 Litre of Tears http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1_Litre...28TV_series%29 I cried atleast once every episode, and I was so touched. I watched all eleven episodes starting at 1am and didnt stop. I highly advise everyone to watch this, due to it being so magnificient in a very sad way.

    Song:
This one was alot harder, some songs made me cry when I was sad but I eventually went with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEW8riKU_tE NiN - Something I Can Never Have studio performance. Totally brilliant.

    Book:
This one kinda sucks for me since I dont know the name, it was one of those books my sister got at a cheap price at tesco. Was one of those biograpy's of a child that got sexually abused by one of their parents. Made me weep like a bitch.

Go go, submit your lists :3

For a book, Into the Wild. I identify with Chris McCandles a lot, at least in terms of some of his philosophy, and how such an intelligent kid just straight up starves from eating the wrong stuff is pretty bad. ((and don't complain about spoilers, it's a news story and in the first two chapters of the book))

For a movie, I'm going with Martyrs. It's really hard for some people to watch because of the sheer brutality and violence, but that movie's fucking sad. The sequence where the main character is slowly transformed physically and emotionally with repeated beatings and deprevation is very saddening, especially when they play some of the softer acoustic post-rock piece to accompany. What's ironic as shit is so many people were disappointed by that movie because it doesn't glorify any of the horrible things it shows, unlike the torture porn flicks out there. A real movie with substance.

TV show would probably have to be the begginning of Friday Night Lights when Jason Street finds out that he'll never walk again. I've seen people go through those kinds of injuries before, and it's completely crushing. On top of that, I don't think there's a single show out there that's that good at portraying reality. Great characters move on and are never seen again, people ruin their lives, some people rise to the occaison, etc. Fantastic show.

Song is too hard to decide.

May sound weird but whenever I see someone die in Harry Potter movies, then Harry bursts out in rage/guilt, it brings a tear to my eye, because he shared such a strong bond with them throughout the movie/series then they end up dying, right before his eyes, added to the fact that he basically saw his own mother get killed by the same spell. ESPECIALLY the ending of Half Blood Prince, where they hold their wands up.

TV Series would have to be either biggest loser, all that grueling training, and when it becomes too hard for them to a point where they're basically gasping for air, they break down a little. Honestly a sad moment. OR.. RSPCA Animal Rescue, some of the places they find these dogs, is just saddening, and the state they're left in is horrible.

Songs don't seem to bring sad moments for me.

Film: Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father

also found Seven Pounds to be sad

TVSeries: Intervention, lots of sad moments there

Music; well, the Requiem from Seven Pounds brought tears when it played during the credits of the film.
Clint Mansell - Together We Will Live Forever as well.

Although, I have to be in a sad mood already for songs to have an effect.

Well you may not believe this but the saddest movie I have ever seen is The Fly 2. I have seen a lot of movies but this is the one that has gotten me closest to crying. I am Legend would be the second. What do these movies have in common you ask? Millions of dead humans? No. Fuck humans. Its a dead dog. In the fly 2 they expirament on a dog in the beginning and you think he is dead then 20 years later Ian Malcom's kid finds the dog still alive and it is badly deformed and has been living in pain the whole time. Very sad.

No, my spider sense told me that would not be a movie I would be interested in. I dont even know what it is about nor have i seen a preview. If its about a dead dog tho count me out. If there was a dog and a baby in the middle of the road I would sve the dog first and kinda try to scoop up the baby as I ran back.

I guess i would have to say Scrubs where Dr.Cox's brother in law and best friend dies, mostly because it's a comedy(so it comes as a shock) and how the whole episode is layed out.

The saddest song ever is "The green fields of France" by Dropkick Murphies (although teh original is Scottish national I think).

TV series: Probably criminal minds. Some of the episodes have been emotionally fantastic, especially Profiler, Profiled. But actually, the saddest bit of anything is that episode where Reid is kidnapped by Tobias Hankle, and having flashbacks and there is that one where, due to his mother being so unstable, he has to have her taken to an institute. That just...really really sad, dunno why it got to me so much.

Film: Im with someone above me in dogs dying being really sad, and for that I have to go with, as well as overall sadness, The Butterfly Effect. *spoiler* the bit where his dog is put in that sack and lit on fire. I mean...that is just so cruel and so sad. But also that, in one of the versions of the future where everything is perfect except he has no use of his legs and the girl he loves is with someone else. Knowing that the only happy ending is the one where you aren't there is an extremely sad thought. For that reason, gotta give Donnie Darko an honourable mention here too.

As for songs, its a tie up between Silent Lucidity (Queenscyrche or however you spell it) and Fiddler on the Green (Demons and Wizards). Both sad songs, and both fantastically done but I would give the edge to Silent Lucidity because, simply, I think that lyrically and vocally it is stronger.
