    Terraria or Minecraft?

So yeah the question is pretty simple
Which game do you prefer? And please explain why.

(Please don't make this a war against the 2 games, it's just a simple question)

Minecraft for the simple reason that I know abit about it and I've never even looked into terraria. as good a reason as any I suppose.

I prefer Terraria, there is actual progression and a true challenge in the harder areas.

The day Minecraft puts in harder and more monsters and biomes with actual effect i will be a very happy man.

Pretty much this, but i think i'm going to actually look into Terraria and see what's going on..

Prefer Terraria with all its bosses, dungeons etc.
Had a few AWESOME nights playing it with a friend while talking over skype... That being said, despite the bosses, dungeons etc, it is a game that one finishes pretty quickly. I would say it is worth the small fee for 10-20 hours of fun, which is the amount of time I put into it before it started to bore me. My friend, however, has played it upwards of 50 hours - farming dungeons and such things.

Edit: Note that my friend and I also had a glitch where we would be able to jump past the end of the world and literally fly through all the layers of minerals to the point of us reaching hell (i think thats what it is called), which is basicly the point where you can't dig any further down and you find the most valuable minerals. We skipped a big part of the game doing that, so that must have resulted in us being done much quicker than we normally would be.

I've 'completed' Terraria. I have Molten Tools, Molten Armour, Muramasa, Ivy Whip, Jet Boots etc

As such I can't think of much else to do. Minecraft was pretty awesome for longevity though. I made a treehouse that stretched from floor to ceiling (about 140 blocks high) had an inside diameter of 25 blocks, walls were 3 blocks thick. Then some clown set it all on fire.

Do you have any idea how many trees I cut down for that! Haven't played Minecraft since.

you can do both in both games but minecraft focuses on building stuff, terraria on combat.

Minecraft, it obviously has better building gameplay and my main reason for playing Minecraft is to build stuff.

If you prefer combat you are better off with Terraria.

Terraria: More exploring, adventure, gearing up, fighting bosses, getting stronger, fancy cool stuff you can make, digging to middle earth to fight monsters.

Minecraft: Less exploring, more building, let you're mind build crazy stuff, less working towards a goal but making great stuff you will remember for a long time, more sandboxing.

Both are great games, and both are even more fun with friends...my personal favor goes to Terraria since I like the adventure feeling more than building stuff myself.

    Does look amazing.

You finish terraria very quickly. It's great fun for 20 hours or so but then there's NOTHING to do.
people like to compare these two but in reality they're quite different. Minecraft lasts a lot longer and is imo the better game assuming you play online with a couple of neat plug-ins.

I've only played Minecraft but I have three reasons for preferring it over Terraria.

1: I can create many incredible structures.
2: I can share entire adventure maps with other people.
3: Terraria will never have a Shadow of Israphel.

Just wondering why would anyone want to compare two so very different games.

  15. #15
right now neither tbh. ive played both and enjoyed minecraft more at the start. but minecraft will be better if notch can get off his lazy ass and provide the stuff he said he would.

    -more monsters
    -more animals
    -biomes more diverse and obvious
    -more biomes
    -adventure mode
    -goblin towns
    -dragon caves
and the list goes on and on

Well... person in a random world who can dig and craft and has to survive in a hostile world where there are daytime enemies and even worse ones at night. Remember to keep the dark places lit and SHUT THE DOOR!!

Same idea... just different ways of going about it. We're comparing those two ways.

I enjoyed Terraria more but the content is lacking and its different approach is nothing compared to the time you can spend in minecraft and still enjoy it.

Dunno about 3, but you could do 1 and 2 in Terraria too.

It's mostly about personal taste, though. I like both for different reasons.

    get both

although minecraft is more bout building massive structures while terraria is more bout looting and blowing things up
atm though terraria is full of hackers griefers and modders wreaking the crap out of the game

    Minecraft.

Because me and a few friends "beat" Terraria and there really isnt anything left for us to do. Minecraft on the other hand... OUR CITY GROWS!
