Is Consecration any good for Retribution pve?

I would imagine most don't keep it on their bars for ret pve. Now for soloing or something I guess I'd use it.

I never use it as ret, under any circumstances. The mana cost is simply to large for the pitiful damage it does. Furthermore I usually have a more effective spell to use in that global cooldown. Additionally, in pvp, the chances of you actually getting a hit off a rogue or druid in stealth with it are so slim. If they know what they're doing, they won't go into your consecration. Divine Storm has pretty much the same area and hits harder.

If you're speccing divine storm for PvP, you're doing it wrong.

dont be so judicial, speccing into holy divine storm of rigtheousness of holy justice works wonders in br/rbg:namely, node capping break, stealth breaking.

I would be VERY suprised if a ret conse made more then spit worth of difference on a boss fight. I'd be impressed if you could link one log where a ret conse was the difference between boss down and raid fail. I'm not saying it does not contribute, I am however saying some toons could push more dmg punching the boss.

Who said it had to be? It might only push out maybe 0.5% of your total damage, but when you're standing there doing nothing and waiting for cooldowns to come up, why the hell would you not use it? It doesn't interrupt your swing timer and aside from using it at a wrong time, doesn't impede your dps output or utility.

So I go back, if you never use it during a full boss encounter, you are doing something wrong and taking a dps loss because of it.

Summary:

Can it be used to effectively boost your dps, in some scenarios... yes.
Will you use it often? No.
Is it worth a primary hotkey? No.
If you don't ever use it will the dps loss be significant? No.
