    Multisampling transparency bug

    Hi,
I recently started using the DirectX 11 mode in WoW, everything looks great except for one thing.
If I use multisampling some transparent textures get a small edge.

    Example:
    With AAx1: http://i.imgur.com/rF9s7.jpg
    With AAx8: http://i.imgur.com/gOleM.jpg

I found some similar posts on the WoW forums but they didn't provide any help.

I'm using a 560 TI with the latest drivers (275.33).
Anyone else had/having the same problem?

I believe it's your drivers. DX11 is still a newer technology for World of Warcraft. Think of it this way; That whole plant has an outline form a model. What you're seeing is the game's attempt to smooth out this transparent edge. Does it happen at 4x?

It's a funny problem. The engine applies the ... bi-linear filtering?, then "removes" the transparent color. That edge you see is the result of the bi-linear filtering making the transparent color blend in with the rest of the texture around the edges of it, thus not making it the absolute transparent color anymore.

    Am I making sense?
    Moo.

I see a bigger problem! That murloc in the distance, why isn't it dead?
That will surely fix your problems :P

Yes, it does happen at 2x, 4x and 8x.

I think I get it, question is, what can be done about it? Just wait for driver/WoW updates?

    *not quite necro bump!*

I've actually noticed the same thing happening on my machine over the weekend. I had updated my drivers and decided to browse the settings and found the "Antialiasing - Transparency" option in the nVidia control panel. I believe I set mine to whichever one was described for most performance, and it got rid of the outline. Fiddle with that, if it exists for your card. (Mines old, see sig, lol)
    Moo.
