    Oh EA, never change.

You had the hearts of the gaming community won over by taking jabs at Activision's ridiculous elite model for MW:3 Then you come along and do this.

Between Activision and EA, there's truly no hope for the future of gaming. At some point, people need to stand up and stop this garbage. When I pay $60 for a game, it should come with the FULL game. Not bits and pieces, chopped up as overpriced dlc that is basically 100% profit for companies.

Any company that has the opportunity to make more money, and chooses not to, will be either torn apart by their shareholders or outcompeted by other rival companies. EA is doing this because it is forced to, since it has been shown to work, time and time again. It is not the company's fault.

Business Executives care more about money than making a quality product? What else is new?

People keep buying games with more and more ridiculous pricing models, so companies are pushing it even further. The only thing that would help would be if, say, MW3 and every game using a similar model was a massive, massive flop.

    Thats just preorder extras?
just something to make people to commit to a game/deposit for it early, something to drive sales etc, I checked in one of the stores doing it, aside from a deposit now those features will be mine for the same price as if I bought the game on the day of launch.

how does that make it wrong?

Why dont you read the fine print before getting your panties in a wad....the content is free to those who pre order the game.Majority of PC gamer's have/will pre order it.MW3 Elite pack is still a monthly fee regardless if you pre order the game.

I may be wrong but isn't that just their version of the special edition game? if so like 99% of all the big games have the special edition versions for pre order and have done for years.

I'm personally tired of the model of having to buy a Collectors Edition to get better weapons faster. But, I just looked it up and it seems like the edition is going to cost the same price as the regular so it seems more then fair.

Welcome to 2011, where you don't actually buy the entire game, just part of it that lets you buy the rest through micro-transactions.

From what I've heard, this wasn't DICE's idea, it came from EA's marketing department. What others have pointed out is totally true, they really don't care about the gaming community, just how much money they can get from it. They're a publishing company with share holders, and they're not gamers themselves nor do they care about the quality of their game beyond if it's profitable or not. You might not like it, but as long as you put up with it, they're going to do it. I guarantee over 90% of the people who were going to buy BF3 before this news will still buy it, which I'm sure EA knows too, and whatever money they loose from those missing customers they'll make up with the DLC.

    TL;DR - You're not a person, you're a wallet.

Not sure in what world you are living in, but in general money = quality. If something generates enough money from pre-orders etc. It's likely that they will get more resources to develop a better product. This is of course not always the case, but the opposite is almost never true, unless it's a indie game type business model.

Mate. Limited Editions are available for every single cultural product. Heck, even BOOKS have started to get Limited Editions now! So stop calling out the two companies you know the names of, and start learning how the world has worked for the past 10+ years.

even though its a preorder bonus. its a unfair advantage towards players that get the game later or are "focred" to buy this pack later on to compete.

This is not a surprise to me, why is this surprising anyone else? Not really uncommon for a shooter to release a few bonuses to those who pay for there collectors/special additions. Really need to get over this.

I live on planet earth. This world. The one with 4 dimensions. EA and Activision both have been known to milk cash cows for all they're worth and skimp on quality when they can get quantity.

Guitar Hero and Madden, NBA, and MLB games are prime examples.

It's not a big deal. You get a few weapons for buying the CE. Who gives a crap. But people on here like to whine about everything.
