They should focus their attacks on those who deserve it, ie, those who would seek to trample on the freedom of the internet!

Pretty much. LoL, Minecraft, Eve generate like... 1/100th of the revenue Blizz brings in. More revenue = better security

That's how it always is. Tough luck. It's all fun and games until they target what you're interested in.

Ignorance doesn't make it so. If no one controlled the internet then a country like Egypt couldn't have shut it off for their country. The internet is controlled. It is just in most countries best interest to leave it be.

AFAIK not true. There has been one person from Lulz-IRC-Chat arrested (eVo), but they claimed he was not part of their core-team at all and not a real LulzSec-Member.

Bah, nobody should have power over it. It's freedom right here right?

i cant wait till they attack wow and have an army 14mil strong going after them... that... would... BE EPIC

  18. #158
    Okay...
When they hit Fox and Sony, I could kind of see that. A lot of people have a beef against Fox, and despite liking Sony products (They do to, actually, they admitted it), I could see why they would go after Sony.

But this is just retarded. They're just attention whoring, now.

They're the reason for the 64 passwords you have to remember, the complexity of the passwords, the security questions, the auditors, the multi-million dollar security infrastructures that companies HAVE to buy and pass along cost in the products we buy. All because they want to play little games. But in the end, these guys will end up paying for it themselves when they mature and start feeling the pain of all the controls that are imposed on them.

Intelligent enough to get around security controls, but too stupid to really understand what they are really doing.
Yes, they have to buy, because hackers can. What can they, you ask? They can. The focus is now on these lolbois, but the risk they're exposing is still truth. A never ending amount of companies is not protected properly against cyber attacks. I'm aware you probably prefer to have your account stolen by someone that's actually anonymous, without ever hearing that it happened, but the danger are real.

You think your facebook/hyves/linked-in account is secure? Fuck that, guess again. If the companies themselves don't sell your info, people can always find a way in.

Security is a a requirement to run a proper internet business. If you fail to secure yourself and hackers expose you, it's not THEM who are to blame for it, it's the company that should have invested in security in the first place. The need for protection starts as soon as you plug in your cable to enter the big webz. If you as a company did not do this, you are guilty right that moment, not after some random hacker decides to tear your place down.

I'm not saying that they're fighting a good fight, because obviously breaking in is still breaking in, but don't pretend companies have to spend because of hackers. They have to spend it because they neglected something they should have done.

a government controls the internet within their borders due to the companies supplying the links answers to the government, but in a broad sense no single entity has control of more than a portion of access to the internet, not the content in itself which no-one has control over.
