A female vocalist I haven't seen anyone mention yet is Kathrine Katz. She lends her talents to Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Salome.

I don't think everyone will like her as her voice is certainly distinctive but she has one of the best screams in metal.

Her scream at 2:33 is amazing.

Not anymore but you can't have a metal vocalist thread without acknowledging the greatness that was Geoff Tate (Queensryche). Maybe the best I've ever heard.

Jorn Lande is tremendous, and my favorite project of his is Ark - Burn the Sun.

Tons of great ones mentioned here - I'll add Daniel Gildenlow from Pain of Salvation. He's a great singer in terms of versatility and emotional depth.

Russell Allen from Symphony X is also pretty damn good.

Mickael Akerfeldt from Opeth without a doubt, and Maynard James Keenan if you consider Tool as being progressive metal.

EDIT: Forgot Hansi Kürsch from Blind Guardian too!

I have to say my personal favorite is Hansi Kürsch from Blind Guardian

  12. #92
    1: Mikael Akerfeldt, Opeth
2: Brian Fair, Shadows Fall (I really don't get how so little people know about these guys)
    3: Shagrath, Dimmu Borgir

And not to randomly bash Slipknot or anything - Corey's good, but in my own opinion, there's better, really.

We’ve been touring 2 straight years for this last album, we definitely need some rest. And as for what’s next for me, Cataclysm!
    (PI) Umm, what?
(CG) World of War Craft, Cataclysm, December 7th, woo! Ha-ha I can’t wait.
